Sixx Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Here's an off the wall question. What is / was your easiest build...could practically build it blind-folded. I guess mine would be the Revell 41 Willys drag coupes, I don't know, they just fall together!! I think I've shown this before...Willys, Ross Gibson motor, Perry's chassis, good stuff!! I could fill several pages of em...tons of em for slot car duty,a bunch of full builds, I love the Willys!!!
martinfan5 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Mine would be lindberg charger police kit, I dont need the instructions to build one anymore, and I think any simple kit really.
John Pol Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 My easy`s build would not one at all lol. John Pol
Chuck Most Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I'd have to second the motion on the new tool Revell Willys kits- both the drag and street rod versions. They assemble so easily its almost like they assemble themselves, and you're just kind of guiding things along. The old AMT kits with the one-piece undercarriage and metal axles fore and aft have never given me any fits, either.
Sixx Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 You got it Chuck!! man...I just gotta throw this in...my fave slot car " Willard " LOL!!! the Chilly Willy Of course...last one is the real-deal
Dave Ambrose Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 My easiest build was the Revell '60 Impala. It was for an automotive themed urban legends museum display. Built it as a curbside; glued the hood and trunk shut. It was there to be light colored and shiny. The kit fit together extremely well, and looked great when done. Wrapped it up in 6 hours, not counting paint drying.
Sixties Sam Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 My easiest one in recent years was this AMT 55 Corvette snap kit. Back in the day it was the early AMT annuals with no engines, one piece interiors and screw bottom chassis. They were fun, though! Sam
martinfan5 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I would have to add a lot of Revell kits, more so on the lines of the turner series and the custom ones, I just did the caddy escalade , (the California wheels one) and it pretty much put its self together
Sixx Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 Darn...just thought of another one...for me...Revells new 49 Mercs, man that one was pretty easy!! Again this one has a Gibson engine
Sixx Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 I'd have to say alot of my easy builds are Revell kits?! I just looked through my photobucket albums...man, a ton of Revell stuff!! LOL!!!!!
Sixx Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 Here's a 16 hour build...started on a Friday night, done by noon Sat., entered contest at LHS, won best in show...go figure?
Sixx Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 (edited) I ended up needing to chug two " 5 hour " energy drinks saturday morning cuz I was falling asleep putting the wheels on! LOL!! I just noticed in the pics my windshield was not put in the right way!!! What a dork!! Wow...don't remember that!! Edited October 22, 2011 by Sixx
demoinc392 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 any MPC caprice, even when i turn them into demolition derby cars lol
Lownslow Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I'd have to say alot of my easy builds are Revell kits?! I just looked through my photobucket albums...man, a ton of Revell stuff!! LOL!!!!! so is mine lol a full detail snap kit too. it needs some polishing to be show worthy
walt francis Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 This is the Revell 69 nova and they just about build themselves Revells 49 Merc
Jon Cole Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 The easiest? Well that would be one I don't need to build! A tip of the hat to Danbury & Franklin Mints. Next easiest would be the pre-paints. Here is a '34 Ford from Revell...
MachinistMark Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 the new 48 ford from revell falls together pretty easy.
Sixx Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 the new 48 ford from revell falls together pretty easy. Cool, I haven't started mine yet, that's good to know!!
Chuck Most Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Thought of another one- not a great kit, but an easy build. You'll likely spend more time waiting on paint to dry than actual assembly. Even when I correct all the accuracy hiccups in the body and detail out the engine bay and interior, I rarely have more than 12 hours in an Ertl Scout II build.
Chuck Most Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Orange one actually is a resin transkit by Time Machine Resins- body, interior tub/chassis (its molded as one piece on this kit), seats, and grille. Even using a transkit, it pretty much fell together.
Sixx Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 I almost bought that kit at a show in Indianapolis last year...should have got it huh??
Chuck Most Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Depends on how bad you want a Scout SSII I guess. Last I knew it was still available. In fact, my orange one is still up on their gallery page.
