Jon Cole Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Does anyone know when the convertible version of the '52 Hudson Hornet will be available? An item order number also? Please, Moebius, both an up-top, and the convertible boot cover. Also consider wire wheels. Thanks!
Dr. Cranky Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 It's lined up to arrive shortly at MODEL ROUND UP!
Eshaver Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Hudson convertibles were indeed a rare breed . Finding a 1-1 one thats affordable ................................. Ed Shaver
khier Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 A silly question, why is the '52 version available in racing version only? I mean why not also stock as the '53 version??
Rob Hall Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 A silly question, why is the '52 version available in racing version only? I mean why not also stock as the '53 version?? Because it's the racing version.
Jon Cole Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 Yeah, but... does anyone know when the convertible version of the '52 Hudson Hornet will be available? An item order number also?
S. Svendsen Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 It will be available mid 2012. I'm working on the box art now. It has a completely new interior and convertible boot, but no up top or wire wheels. (You can use the Kelsey-Hayes wires from the upcoming Chrysler 300 kit if you want to go this route. I believe Kelsey-Hayes was the supplier for both cars and the wheels are the same except for some minor differences in the center cap.)
Chuck Most Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Because it's the racing version. Why no '53 version? Because race car!
Lyle Willits Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I saw the testshot of the convertible. It is VERY nice, just like the current 2 door sedan. It comes only with a boot - no up-top. I'm sure one of the reputable resin casters will provide an up-top.
charlie8575 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 K-H did indeed supply Hudson with wire wheels, so the 300 ones would work. Hmmm....perhaps Moebius could sell those separately with a set of whitewalls? Might be a good seller. As to the up-top, thinking of the over-all shape, the one in the AMT '51 Chevy is good general start. You might also be able to use the one from the '50 Ford and have it come out okay. Charlie Larkin
Chuck Most Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I'm not too worried about the lack of an up-top. If I wanted to 'seal off' the interior, I'll just build one of the '53's I already have! Just use the boot and have fun detailing out that interior, and keep it in a display case if you're worried about dust. That's what I'm gonna do.
Tonioseven Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Why no '53 version? Because race car! Right on!!
Jon Cole Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 I like the idea of using the wires from the upcoming 300 on the Hornet ragtop... it just looks right!
S. Svendsen Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) Here's a sneak peak at the test shot I built and the photography I shot for the box art of the upcoming Moebius '52 Hudson Convertible. No release date yet, probably later this year. Update: Here's the final box art for the kit I just completed. Edited February 7, 2012 by S. Svendsen
Dr. Cranky Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Wow, what a beauty. Gorgeous model. Will really save a lot of work for those of us always tempted to chop off the coupe!
Tony T Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 That is a gorgeous build! Wow! This is another kit to look forward to!
Jon Cole Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Oh yes! That is... MUCH nicer than the coupe! Nothing wrong with the coupe, just the ragtop is so much classier!
Erik Smith Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Nice build. The convertible will make it so much easier to see the beautiful interiors.
Harry P. Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Very nice color combination, that's a real beauty!
MikeMc Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 outside of the vent window frames looking thick...IT looks 1:1..WOWSER!!!!
