I built the “PANIC” Dragster using the Tom Daniel Trick T/Stinger Dragster kit.

I removed the top rails from the rear frame section and refit them in place under the rear frame rails This gave me enough clearance for the lowered Turtle Deck. The engine was lowered about 1/8". The steering rod was moved to center. A fuel tank, fuel pump, oil pump, coolant tank with hoses, electronics, and fire extinguishers from Garlitt’s XXX Dragster were added. The Injectors, Scoop, front wheels and tires are from the Tony Nancy 22Jr kit.

I made the “PANIC” body a one-piece design. The rear edge of the “T” body was reduced by 3/8” and covered with sheet plastic. The Turtle Deck was mounted 3/8” lower

The front wing was removed and the nose was tapered down to a point. A small slice of Bubble Top was cut off, backed with sheet plastic and attached to the body, to make the new cockpit. The original exhaust slots were filled and the bottom of the body was cut to clear exhaust pipes.

The body and frame are painted with Tamiya Pure White, Pearl White and Bright Orange Spray Paint. The Fred Cady “Stretched Flame” decals and the Slixx “PANIC” Decals worked well together

Yes that is a nice touch. Where did the figure come from?

I know, I know !! I've got the same one ready to go in the next appropriate subject. Competition Resins carries two. The one Ira used looks to be the 60's Dragster Driver Figure (CRC-222). They also carry one called Early Driver Figure (CRC-051). They are both a hair large for the 1/25 Funny Cars I've tried them in and it looks like he may have had to modify the knees to stretch out. Both are VEEEERY nice. A steal at $5.50 each, but I'm certain they'll make ya' pay for 'em.

Great job Ira. I passed one of those kits up at the Lancaster, CA IPMS show today. I'm too tired to kick myself after 9 hours on the road from Vegas.

True story. I helped Gary Hazen briefly when a pal of mine introduced him to me back in the late 60's. Just as he was converting from the altered Panic Rat to the Panic F/C. Blew the motor on the first pass with the Funny when the oil pump seized. As Mike Dunn would say, "The motor was not happy."

Again, very nice work. Keep them coming.

Super fine in every way. super.gif The tonneau cover, lowered turtle deck, cleaned up nose area and the exhaust exits are all great restyling touches and improve the lines and looks of the original enormously.

Great looking build and the driver figure is a nice touch.

Thanks! This is the first time I have added a driver to a car...

The Driver comes with the Revell/ Monogram "Stinger" or "Trick T" Kits. You get an empty seat & a driver molded in a seat.

Now that I've had a chance to rest up from my trip, I'm really kicking myself.
