Lownslow Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 big update, decided to keep it gateless and the insides were trashed so i decided to give the wood bed thing a try
Rob McKee Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 I love that wood bed. What type of wood did you use?
Lownslow Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 I love that wood bed. What type of wood did you use? ts like popsicle sticks i got them at michaels
Rob McKee Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 ts like popsicle sticks i got them at michaels Really, they worked out well. I am toying with idea of doing the same on my 40 Ford.
CorvairJim Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Two things: 1) I get my popsicle sticks the old-fashioned way - by enjoying a popsicle from the vending machine every day on break at work! 2) If you decide to go with different wheels and tires on this bad boy, let me know - I can give those a REAL goood home!
Dr. Cranky Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 The bed is really looking perfect for this build. Great job. Please keep it going!
hotrod59f100 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Wow I have one of these in the neer future to restore . A glue bomb off eBay. I'm gonna keep up with this.
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 If you haven't already glued the wood to your bed consider this. Min-Wax makes stain touch-up pens and stain those before you mount them. Several Years ago I built a step side and did just that to some balsa strips. it really looked good!
hotrod59f100 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 If you haven't already glued the wood to your bed consider this. Min-Wax makes stain touch-up pens and stain those before you mount them. Several Years ago I built a step side and did just that to some balsa strips. it really looked good! I have them and they work well. I am a house painter and we use the for touch ups. They work well on Popsicles I did it on my 60 f100 bed I Have a few pics I need to re glue the last on .
Lownslow Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 nice, didnt get far with it applied some primer and putty
hotrod59f100 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I got mine of eBay to as a glue bomb. Mine was cast in yellow and every part is glued at of center .the motor is junk and so is the bed. Did yours come with the little push /brush gard on the air dam?
Lownslow Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 it did at one point but they were missing when it arrived, the frame and motor were junk on this one too i plan on pseudo modding whats left of the frame and using a dodge d2o for the motor and suspension
LAone Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 thats retro cool keep it going man, looking forward to how it comes out.
