Foxer Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 A very interesting build. And, just to reinforce Ben's mention, I've used Archer's rivets too ... and just popped my styrene rivets in the trash.
Repstock Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 Rivets done on one side. I had trouble with the Tichy Train rivets, so I cut slices off a .025 styrene rod. These may be slightly overscale, but I can't see anything smaller! Ignore the swayback look of the model, it's camera lens distortion.
Scalper Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 WOW those are insane rivets. Box looks as real as it gets.
Nick Notarangelo Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 So far so good but if your going to do a U-Haul it needs that smell like someone just emptied two weeks worth of beer in there bladder in the back corner, then its spot on.
Prostreet Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 You put each of those rivets on one at a time? Great building .
Ben Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Beautiful work Tom!!!!!!! Can't wait to see it painted!
Foxer Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) The detail on the side is riveting! ... sorry about that, but I wouldn't want that rivet job. It came out looking real good! Edited November 27, 2011 by Foxer
JohnHarper Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 WOW! That is some incredible detail! I haven't built a model truck since I was a teen, about 30 years! But I recently bought the reissued Road Boss to do a replica of the trucks my dad used to work on as a diesel mechanic at a trucking company in Chicago called OK Motor Service. This forum has given me alot of good ideas on detailing, I just hope I can pull some of them off. I plan on starting my Road Boss project soon so I'll be sure to post my WIP photos! John
01blueedge Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 looks good so far cant wait to see more. great scratch building. I am also gonna have to check out missing link resin and try and get one of those cabs
Travis Waits Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Very nice work and the possibilities are near endless for that cab. Mr Evan Hermel is the only other person I have seen use this type cab. I was lucky enough to buy one from him a few years back.
Sticks Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Great detail, this should look great when finished.
mikelo Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Wow. I don't want to start being a rivet counter, but,,, Mike
Repstock Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Wow. I don't want to start being a rivet counter, but,,, Mike I'll count them for you. I finished the rivets and there are 1,231 of them ....really!
Repstock Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Is that per side?! Thankfully no. That's the total count.
Repstock Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 I have been forced to stop this project because of paint problems. I need to let the paint cure before I attempt a fix. Meanwhile, this is what I have done... Here's the 330 engine. This is the interior thus far. This is foil cast underhood detail. I believe a Bronco had the hood with the detail to start with. The model Bronco and pickup hoods are close, but don't interchange. Here's the overall effect. I hope I can keep my interest long enough to finish it.
cowboysevens Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 oh now that is looking sharpe, great job so far
ewaskew Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 That is some great scratch building, this thing is very nice
