Couple nights ago a Fiero Roadster was mentioned in Chat .... That thoughts been pullin at me since. So tonight I got tired of this little car sittin on my shelf taunting me. I pulled it down, pulled it apart enough to get at the body and lopped off the lid. Once I got the lid off It was kinda obvious I needed to do something about the transition between the door height and rear deck height. Found a thread on a Fiero forum where a member did exactly as I am .... so I used his idea of angling a line down from the deck to the door. Here's where I am now. It's gonna need some filler on the remaining black behind the door to blent it to the body and some blending in the rear interior and around the intake grilles, but the general look is here and not too bad looking I think. What yall think ??

Hmmm... wonder how a Fiero came up in conversation...

Like the way it looks so far- just needs minimal bodywork and maybe a boot. I'd go with a fiberglass boot- just cut in some panel lines and you're set. And don't forget the sunvisors!

Chuck Visors are in the plan eventually.. as for a boot probably not. There's really no room behind the seat for a top and its mech to be stowed. Gonna go the route I seem to find the most of a full on open Roadster Here's the thread I'm using to redo the cut areas

Here's the pic of the piece he made to do the height transition

Farther along in the thread he blends it in and all but he never set it up to have a top

Looks good. I remember when those came out I told a friend it looked like a Ferrari and he punched me! LOL!

and yer Vette buddy did the same thing when you mentioned how the Opel GT looked like a Vette!!! lol

I think it would help is you chopped the windshield frame a scale inch or two, but then you get into custom "glass" territory. Or just go for it and replace what's there with the speedster windshield from the Revell Calloway Corvette speedster. :)

Maybe include the snorkel scoop (or two) as integrated headrests somehow...

I guess I need to pick up one of these myself, too.

Hey, I had a project like that years ago. I used the MPC kit as well, and even used the wide body kit that came with it. It also had some Japaneese wheels on it as well.

I like to call my buddy's '73 'Vette an 'Overgrown Opel'. Man, he LOVES that.

Hey Mike.... I love that wide bodied roadster. That's the way Pontiac should have built it! Maybe they would if they built it in 2012? But with a small blown V8.

My wife use to have a Fiero (while I drove a '78 T/A) that looked identical, right down to the rear bumber! Cant wait to share this w/ her!
