like harry sez you can get them cheap (try harbor freight, just got a nice 3 gal tank one for about 50 bucks) on the other hand i do see the attraction of building your own and like you point out, they are ultra quiet, a far cry from the harbor freight model.

mcf writing police.

Seeing as you mark yourself as the "MCF Writing Police", maybe you should re-check your own post...

Sez = ????

Also, you might want to check your Caps key as your post doesn't seem to contain any capital letters at the start of your sentences...

Have a nice day...

Or... go online, buy one for less than a hundred bucks, and have it sent to your door.

Hmmm...... decisions, decisions....

They maybe cheap over the pond, but, everything is a lot more expensive over here, plus, a fridge will fit into a hatchback so no need for a "truck"...

I know how this isn't related to the topic, but I'm saying it.

What I've noticed is that 95% of the people KNOW grammar. They're just too lazy to use it! It's SOOOO much easier to read if itz not liek dis.

No hatchback I've ever seen will hold a refrigerator.

Now get it right Harry, trucks in Pamp's neck of the world are called lorries!!!

I say! I forgot that fridges over beyond are larger than our houses. A fridge here will easily fit in the back of my estate car and I can load it without any assistance. After I removed the compressor, I can bring the remainder to the scrapyard where I can trade it for a windscreen washer bottle off an old Beetle, which I can use as an air tank.

it's fun dragging old stuff home to your own driveway and garage and making something out of it but

not everyone can haul an old fridge up to a 3rd floor apartment, than start drilling and hacking while the neighbors bang at you from below

and alert management

Of what I can gather from the initial post, this thread was meant to lead people, who are so inclinded, to a forum, where they can learn, how to build an airbrush compressor from an old fridge.

I don't think the intention was to find umpteenandtwenty reasons not to do it.

However, I can be mistaken. The initial post does challenge my intellectual capabilities a little.

Well, we aren't talking mini fridges here, we're talking about real man sized fridges that will hold more than a six pack!

And for those not versed in the Queen's proper English, and "estate" is a station wagon to us common folk! I guess there's learning in watching "Top Gear" after all!!

"I are very fluent..."????

"Hillbilly" is one word...

and "Appalachian" is spelled A-P-P-A-L-A-C-H-I-A-N.

If you got straight A's in English, the teacher was grading on a curve...

Dialect!

Spelling differences are similar to American English and Olde English, such as 'tire' and 'tyre'.

I think.
