Dave Mikrut Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Missed you guyz! I've been back to work and by the time I get home because of my stroke I'm really too tired to do much of anything. Big time slump, abilities are hindered, lack of inspiration and generally feeling kinda beaten. Well thank God I snapped out of that! Quite often all it will take is seeing a photo of a car that just really get's me goin, and such is the case of this insane Valiant gasser I saw online. So I got right on Ebay and in about 2 weeks found this 2dr Valiant promo, Not sure of the year because it is not on the chassis. So what you see is what I have come up with today. I'm using a modified Barracuda chassis right now and I'm gonna get the back up a little higher but not quite as radical as the reference photo. I have to open the hood and ofcourse it will have a hemi, not sure if it will be blown or injected. It felt real good to be crafting again today, I hoping this lasts again for a good long while!
bandit1 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 it looks like in the gasser pic...that is actually a afx car!...meaning move that rear wheel section forward about 2 or so inches!
jeffs396 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 it looks like in the gasser pic...that is actually a afx car!...meaning move that rear wheel section forward about 2 or so inches! Agreed, AWB. Look at the upper door frames...must have been a four-door!
Foxer Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Good to see ya back in action, Dave .. and, I love Valiants!!!!
62rebel Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 great start; i wouldn't fuss about the rear wheelwells on this one.... that promo plastic is THICK and hard! getting the hood open will be tough enough!
Gluhead Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Hey Dave! Whatever ya wanna call it, I dig it. Glad to see you are back around. Ya got here just in time. I need to get pic capable again then we can really kick up the (plastic) dust around here.
W-409 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Well, that's Cool! That 1:1 photo looks very nice too, and build looks very interesting so far. Great stance you have there, even if rear end needs to be bit higher. And I'd like to go with injected Hemi, blown Hemi engines are seen so often in these Gassers.
DumpyDan Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Hey Dave , glad to see you are building, this looks cool. I hear ya about being so tired, I had heart failure earlier this year and walking up a set of stairs would mean I was done for awhile.................much better now...............BUILD AWAY DAVE!
tooltas Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 what a odd ball car needs a just as oddball of a motor a blown slant six or a caddy 362
weasel Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 my verrrry first model was of a 61 or 62 Valiant 4door, when they FIRST came out!! lol....got it on a friday, built at my Gma's house, Testors purple brush paint, and entered it in the HobbyShop contest on monday...paint was still a little 'tacky' lol nice project....gassers rule!!
Dave Mikrut Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 I have been showered with this same question. I originally steered away fom that idea because I actually scored the rarer promo 2dr. I can't actually bring myself to hacking this awesome body, even tho my favorite builds are AWB cars. I am now going to go on another quest to aquire a 4dr and actually attempt the inspiration car as well.
Hypermung Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Agreed, AWB. Look at the upper door frames...must have been a four-door! Agreed, AWB. Look at the upper door frames...must have been a four-door! Agreed, AWB. Look at the upper door frames...must have been a four-door!
