This board can cause Lurkers also. Why because of the Groupies and

insulters here.

Were you lurking before you posted this James???

Pretty funny, well said, and true, so true.

I'd just like to mention that in contrast to all the "Mr. Hyde" personalities mentioned, we're also lucky to have a large number of nicer "Dr. Jekyll" types who fill out the picture of forum personalities:

The Inspirer with amazing builds, The Helper with experienced advice and resource information, The Cheerleader for good builds (I know this can get out of hand, but there's nothing wrong with attaboys), and so on. Of course, there are the all-around Good Guys whom we frequently see step in to offer moral support to those with problems in and out of the hobby. All part of the pleasure of frequenting this site.

I'm sure other forum members have some favorites of their own.

Thanks Skip for bringing forward the idea of positive personalities. When I first read the original post, I was thinking that reading the various types was getting depressing, in a humourous kind of way of course. LOL

Not nearly as interesting or as funny, though. :P

"It is recommended to stay away from lurkers". That shouldn't be too difficult.

And I'd like to hear of an instance where a lurker could be "dangerous".

The problem is that the word lurker is a misnomer in this context. Traditionally the term has an intrinsic negative connotation but I see nothing wrong with observing a forum without, or only occasionally, posting. It's not as if you're hanging around outside the girls' changing room.

The "spelling Nazi" in me asked that I inform you that the phrase is "Hear ye, hear ye..."
