Lownslow Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 always wanted to build one of these after seeing so many of them as customs the chrome steelies were junk so i went with the drag wheels on old school pegasus tires, the paint is gonna be a 60ish panel style paintjob having way too much fun with these testors paints. decided to hit the catalina with this. this is more of a color than it is candy but this is the base for the panel paintjob, not sure if i wanna spray the wheels the same color yet
1fine89 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Wow nice color! turned out really nice! Lets see more!!
Modlbldr Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 One of my favorite colors!!! Can't wait to see what you do with it. Later-
Erik Smith Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Let's see - love 62 Catalinas. Love steel wheels. Love the color. Yes, I will enjoy observing this build.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Love that color. Very nice. Keep it going.
Lownslow Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) dry enough to move around not sure what im gonna do to the top Edited February 1, 2012 by Lownslow
chopper430 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 i'd go with a candy or pearl orange but then again that's just me.
Lownslow Posted February 4, 2012 Author Posted February 4, 2012 did some painting, the top is classic white with a few drops of sand beige to give it a off while look , i racked my head the whole day wether to do scallops or panels i got mess of tape the size of a soft ball from all the patterns i tried and didnt like. i still gotta mask off the sides.
Modlbldr Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 NICE!! I wouldn't figure those colors would work well together, but they do. I love the fading in the paint. Keep it up. Later-
Lownslow Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 did the scallops today shes ready for foil and clear
geetee66 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Love the colour and the contrast with the scallops. I reckon the scallops placement on the body works really well, accentuating the centre lines of the trunk and hood. I just bought another of these kits, as I loved the one I recently made. The molding was crisp and apart from a minor front bumper tweak (They seem to tilt up on the rear edge), they go together well. Looking forward to seeing this finished!
