Ira Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Looking forward to NNL West on Feb.11, in Santa Clara, Ca!!! Hope to see you all there!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Ira, you know what I am going to say, right? Take your camera, bring us back lots of eye candy. Thanks in advance!
Mooneyzs Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) I am trying to make it up from Arizona but not sure if i will get to due to work. I used to go to it all the time when I lived and hour south of Santa Clara. Its probably the best show i have been too. so many great builds to see. Plus I was looking forward to meeting a few of our fellow model builders from here. I have a few great friends who belong to the Monterey Bay Scale Auto model club. Bernard Kron Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I'll be there. Raul Perez, Curt Raitz and their modeling buddies all chip in for some vendor's tables so we can have somewhere to sit. Some of them even sell stuff! Anyhow, I stay with Raul and his wife each year and chip in, too. So come on by and say hello!
Agent G Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I'm going to try to get the weekend off, but no promises. G
simonr Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 One day I'll be there..I heard its an awesome show and the west is the west!...Good luck guys..have a great time there! Simón P. Rivera Torres
Qwit Pushin Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Wouldn't miss it, greatest show of the year for me.
deja-view Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Did they move this show from the fall when it was with the Good Guys car show in Pleasanton? Edited February 4, 2012 by deja-view

Mooneyzs Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Well I am stoked, I am able to take a few days off and come up.... Now my only question is which couple of cars i will be bringing up since i will be flying and not driving now. Looking forward to seeing and meeting others there.
Bernard Kron Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) .... Now my only question is which couple of cars i will be bringing up since i will be flying and not driving now. .... For what it's worth, I'm flying down from Seattle and I can get between 6-10 1/25 models, depending on size and height, in my regulation carry on, packed in two shoe boxes, and they arrive safe and unmolested. I carry clothes and toiletries in the spaces between the boxes and in my day pack (NNL West is pretty casual...). C U there! Edited February 8, 2012 by Bernard Kron
Mooneyzs Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) Awesome Bernard. Yea I was trying to figure out if one of my plastic containers will hold 4 of my completed models and 2 of my 1/16 scale kits that are under construction. Was going to wrap them with some of my micro fiber cloths. sorta how I do when I take them to shows but add a little more to make sure they are safe. I haven't been to NNL west in years and looking forward to it. I will be setting my stuff up around some of the guys who are good friends from the Monterey Bay Scale Auto car club. XJ6 Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 This will be my first NNL show....and sure looking foward to it
jbwelda Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 >Did they move this show from the fall when it was with the Good Guys car show in Pleasanton? naw that was (and maybe still is) another NNL. "NNL" is a bit of a generic term. this particular one this weekend is the "NNL West". you will see the term used a lot in different parts of the country and really implies a show versus a contest. few to no trophies though there are usually special awards for one thing or another or one celebrity type or another's pick. the shows in pleasanton were quite possibly "NNL"s but this is kinda the big daddy of the northern california shows. oh yeah...im gonna be there! its one of about three "must" events for me in the year.
deja-view Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Thanks, JB. I wish I could make a few of these great shows but health keeps me from doing much travelling. That's not far from my home as a kid (born in Auburn, but lived in Lafayette and Antioch for lots of years as my dad worked in San Fransicso and my mom taught at the high school in Antioch). I'm still tempted to just pack up the Suburban or other and head up there, but to be honest I haven't finished a model in years and I always feel a little guilty when I bring stuff that was done 10 or more years ago. But it's sooooo tempting.

Mooneyzs Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Please bring the funny car. I am looking forward to seeing this in person. bobthehobbyguy Bob I am bringing the funny car for sure wasn't going to leave home with out it . I haven't gotten to work on it for the past 2/3 weeks and you will see it in plastic mocked up. I will be leaving the body home so just going to bring the chassis engine etc. will be set up as rolling chassis with engine sitting in place. I am also trying to bring up my 1/16th FED that is in the works too. plus some finished 1/25th scale builds

Wouldn't want you to rush painting it just for the show. Are you coming in Friday or Sat? Friday has pizza 6 to 9. bobthehobbyguy
Mooneyzs Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 (edited) Thanks Bob... I did a test fit in the container I am packing my builds in and i was able to fit 3 of my 1/25th scale builds, 1 1/43rd build and both of my 1/16th scale builds my F.E.D. and my Army Vega Funny Car chassis & engine. It will be going on as a carry on too . I am flying in friday morning. My parents live in the Monterey Bay area and will be driving up to the show Saturday morning. Looking forward to seeing you there. Edited February 9, 2012 by Mooneyzs
Gregg Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Unfortunately, this is the first time in I don't know how long I will not be able to make it to the NNL West. It's a big disappointment for me, since I feel that the NNL West is my "adopted home" show, with the roots of Plastic Fanatic and the bay area guys who have given me so much support over the years. I'm going to miss you guys this year. Yeah, I know, sniff, sniff, sniff...
