I have learned and tried many new thing I have seen here. That's what it's all about. And I'll do my part to keep this place friendly... I've learned my lesson as far as giving people a lot of leeway. It blew up in my face.
martinfan5 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Dont let the few bad apples ruined for the rest of us
scalenut Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I can appreciate what you put up with Mr. P there is never a need to start bashing a moderator anyway. sometimes people forget that being on a forum is a privilege not a right to act out, it's not public property if a person walked into a public bar and started causing trouble , they will be asked to cool it or leave. it's no different in a forum.

I equate it to somene coming into my home, and being a knob by breaking my rules. My party, my rules, no like.. You leave now..on your own, or by force.
tabsscale1 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Seems like once i sign on i am always on even when i am not home . I usually check the place out everytime I set down on the computer
Gregg Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I just got wind of this thread a little while ago. I went a step beyond Harry's suspension, and put outright bans on a lot of people here tonight/today. If you have a problem with this, take it up with me, not Harry.

Gregg, after some of the things I read last night I don't think anyone will have a problem with those people getting banned. I equate coming here to dining in my favorite diner. I see a lot of people I know and have a nice quiet meal. Then some lug nut comes along being loud and abusive, and the big guy comes out of the kitchen and shows him the door. Everyone appluads and goes back to eating and reading the paper. Thanks for coming out of the kitchen.
FASTBACK340 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I used to moderate over at FORABODIESONLY, a Mopar specific site for the A body cars, Darts, early Barracudas, Dusters, ETC. When it was 7,000 members it was fun. When we passed 15,000 and had 7 moderators it was a constant game of tail-twisting. I would rule hard with no conscious (ask Brian, Green Duster...he was a member there too) on the noise makers. The site became a victim of it's own popularity... and I quit when it approached 20K. Got so bad with back-biting, attacks, slander, and just plain stupidity that I don't even GO there anymore. And I was member # 171..... Bottom line? Crank up the discipline. If people are going to be idiots, let them do it elsewhere.

car-man666 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 well ,every day since i'm in the gang, the workbench is rigth next to the computer, so ,i'm in and out the workbench and on the forum, that's when i'm home ,at work, i'm in front of a computer all day, so it's easy to leave a window open and stay up to date(sometimes caus the're always somebody typing one thing or another so it is hard), and i'm also hooked on 2 other "french forum ", that i've been hooked on , to keep in toutch with around my province, the're a little smaller and we don't have the same comunity than you guy's in the states, (and around the world, i'm sorry! ) but in quebec ,we don't have the same amount of people on our little forum, it make's it easy to keep track , here, it's the big highway of info's.
JunkPile Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Wow! Play nice kids. This is a fun place. Model car hobby doesn't seem to be as popular as it once did. We are the ones that seem to love it, lets keep us alive and well. Modeling may be the highlight of some of our lives. Not sure if that is good or bad, but it is what it is. If I can behave my self online, anyone should be able to. Lets just have good, clean, safe fun. Lesson for today: Do not use teeth to remove stuck cap on super glue
crazyjim Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Most days I turn the computer about 7:30am and go straight to email to check the posting notifications form the forum. After reading them I go over to the forum and check new postings. After that I check any regular emails. At least a couple of time during the day I'll repeat the same routine. There's a computer out in the shop but I rarely turn it on. I never logout of the forum. A few times I haven't been able to check the forum first thing in the morning and felt depressed until I was able to check it out.
Guest Dr. Odyssey Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I have been coming to this forum almost everyday for months but before it was a few times a week.
Wagoneer81 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I look in on The Asylum several times a day... ;^)
Rob Hall Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I don't think I'd like moderating..I'd be banning people every 5 minutes.
LoneWolf15 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Since I got the new phone ( scratch marks are still in Verizon's parking lot from Kathie dragging me into the 21st century ) , every day , and more times that I can count . I consider it an ongoing educational experience , great friends , able to keep up with new products , methods for building , etc , and it's all free ! I try to give back whenever or wherever I can , it's a give and take situation in my opinion . Unfortunately there are those who bring nothing to the table except sarcasm , criticism , and chaos . Strange part of this equation ? I have yet to see one of these individuals post a picture of a build , project , how to , etc , to date ! I really enjoy my time here ! This might have been a step in the right direction when all is said and done . The personal attacks , for whatever reason , simply need to be stopped . I don't envy you , Harry , not one bit ! However , I tip my hat to you for your work here on the forum . Thank you !
Jon Cole Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I am on here multiple times a day. I love this place. In the past few days I have been at the workbench again, still pluggin' away on the Hudson. This board helps motivate the desire. With any luck, I just might have a model to show this year!
Kit Basher Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I usually pop in once or twice a day. I don't always have a lot to say, but I sure like what I'm seeing!

Dr. Cranky Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Suddenly, the forum is nice and quiet once again, and people seem free to come and go, posting and exchanging ideas without getting attacked or inhibited. Thanks, Gregg.
Gregg Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Yeah, I'm tired of it. It's not fair to Harry to put the burden of watching the schoolchildren in the playground. Harry does this voluntarily, and without his help, me and MCM would not be where we are today, and where we are going. John made a good point, once that jump happens, it's going to get worse, and now is the time to really put down the hammer. I have had a really laid back way of handling the "crisis" that show up here occasionally, and I have to change my ways. No more Mr. Nice Guy. The forum is a great place to learn new things about the hobby we love, meet great people who become great friends, and of course, get to show off our love of model cars.
Danno Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I've been away for a couple of days. Did I miss anything?
Inky Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I check in here atleast a dozen times a day along with the other forums I am a member of. I only work a few hours a day so I have way to much time on my hands, I would rather spend it on this forum than sitting and watching tv. I love this place and have learned allot in the short time I have been here.

Yes you did Dan, people acting like children is all. I think I come on here to much, I am out of town for the evening and still getting on here, but I can only take so much of gambling at one time, no not in Vegas, If I was I would not be on here
