Dr. Cranky Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I just came back from checking out the line up of kits coming out that are going to keep many of us drooling and building. Interested to hear what you folks think of these REPOPPED items available in the coming months, including many already listed over at the MODELROUNDUP website. AMT: ECTO-1A "Ghostbusters" 1965 Chevelle "Super Wagon" REVELL: Orange Crate 1941 KS Pitman 41 Willys And of course, the impending new tool from Moebius: The Chrysler 300 I don't know if we are really going through a kit renaissance, but they are coming out. Lots of kits that I know personally I will add to my collection, including some that I will restock on like the Revell 1980 Cadillac.
Guest Johnny Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 The 65 Chevelle wagon is one I love to see come back!
Chuck Most Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Personally, for me EVERYTHING is taking a back seat to the upcoming '50 Olds by Revell. Yes, even the '57 Ford gets second place for me, and I'm a Ford guy! I don't think I've been so pumped up about an upcoming kit since Moebius announced the Hornet was coming. I am looking forward to the Chrysler, but I have a feeling I'll be picking up the 1:25 Batman Tumbler first.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 And the 64 Corvette looks very cool.
Rob Hall Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Lots of good stuff happening in '12 from reissues to new tool kits. January has been good so far....looking forward to seeing what gets announced in the spring..
Dr. Cranky Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 Perhaps one of these fine days soon, we'll hear the PINTO and VEGA kits are coming back.
Guest Johnny Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Perhaps one of these fine days soon, we'll hear the PINTO and VEGA kits are coming back. I could get into that! Love to build a replica of the bright blue Vega my brother-in-law bought new in 72. Drove it across the country from and AFB in Florida to Minot ND and got a ticket for loud exhaust/modified exhaust in almost every state he passed through! Gues replacing that stock muffler with a Hush Thrush wasn't such a great idea after all!
s10chevypu Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 It would be a dream come true, if the pinto and the vega's would come back out. I have a couple of pinto's in my stash. joe
Chuck Most Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Perhaps one of these fine days soon, we'll hear the PINTO and VEGA kits are coming back. Or...
Dr. Cranky Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 That Chevette would look cool next to the 76 Gremlin!
martinfan5 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Ecto 1A, it will nice to get on one with out having to pay the high ebay price's for one
Ramfins59 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I'm looking forward to the Chrysler 300 and the '50 Olds. I've got an Ecto 1 in my stash. The Orange Crate would be cool, but I'd probably just use the chopped sedan body for another Street Rod build.
martinfan5 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) It wont take that much work to make ecto1 from the first movie, thats what I plan on doing as well Edited February 10, 2012 by martinfan5
Chuck Most Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) Oh- I do want to get MPC's Vampire Van reissue. I've got a plan or two in mind for that much-maligned monstrosity. Edited February 10, 2012 by Chuck Most
Dr. Cranky Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 And, of course, it'd be great to see a Continental kit added to that let's-hope-it's-soon list!
drball Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Do not forget the release of the original Tweedy Pie this spring.
philo426 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) I wonder if they could ever re-issue the old Aurora racing scenes kits.I wonder if the tooling still exists.? Edited February 10, 2012 by philo426
Dave Van Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Perhaps one of these fine days soon, we'll hear the PINTO and VEGA kits are coming back. Vote with your wallet!!! Gremlins sell....then Pinto and Vega will be a logical choice. I wonder if they could ever re-issue the old Aurora racing scenes kits.I wonder if the tooling still exists.? Per a Monogram product manager, now retired, the 1/16 stuff was damaged in transit from Aurora.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 Dave, I think you are right about that. I wonder how many units of the Hudson have sold already, or the Gremlin. If they move well, the companies will be tempted to put out more good stuff.
Eshaver Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Cranky, I lucked out doing some exibit work this past month. I was able to do a DELUXE Batmobile , a Gremlin and a Hudson, one of each. Thats almost a year of building for me as I'm already prepaing my next diorama , a car wash ..........Ed Shaver
mikemodeler Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I am looking forward to a lot of the Revell offerings and a couple of the AMT/Round2 kits as well. I don't need more kits but I sure want a few copies of some of the new stuff coming!

martinfan5 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I scanned the decals for the first movie car, so I have the images of the ghost. If I look I might still have the parts for that version too. If I don't i'm gonna hate havin to go evilbay for them. Either that or scratchbuild them. Would share the decals with me ? , did you get the parts from the polar lights version?
Erik Smith Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 All three new toolings from Revell are exciting - 50 Olds, 57 Ford, 62 Vette. So many possibilities with just those three! Moebius - they already cost me a bunch.
