brett Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Gene Snow that is Texas oil (well lets say pretty well off) and drag racer. this is one of his many funnycars. the pic I'm basing my build off of I have the slixx decals for this build but the colours look all wrong for the pics I found, so I'm sticking with th kit ones and will use the slixx elsewwhere, kit bottom, slixx top Lots painted nothing together yet we all know the stories around him, please keep them out of this thread
Mr. Moparman Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Since when did the Bandit let Cletus have some of the delivery money? lol This is gonna be a great build!
Romell R Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Brett good job on the paint and decal work, Slixx decals are usually spot on for color and from what I see here they look awefully close to the actual car to me. The Lightning bolts on Genes car are more orange than yellow.
iBorg Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 The Revell decals aren't as accurate as the Slixx decals. I've seen more than one body color for this car. It could be that during the season, the original was damaged and a new paint job was used with a different base coat.
Evil Appetite Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Looking good, I started this one months ago...finally got the candy apple red to look good , then it ended up with a nice big gouge in the paint..ahh well...gonna try again soon..
bandit1 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 we all know the stories around him, please keep them out of this thread AU CONTRARE!...NOT ALL!

iBorg Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Snow's car was red. A team car, driven by Jake Johnson was blue.
Dragracer Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 The paint/decals looks good Brett, can't wait to see the finished product. I personally think that the blue on the Slixx Decal looks off compared to the picture on the box.
1320wayne Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) The red car was at times a bright red and also it was a candy apple red. There is too much blue to white fade on the side panels on the Slixx sheet. Other than that they are pretty accurate. Build looks good so far Brett. Edited February 19, 2012 by 1320wayne
brett Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Thanks guys. Yea Wayne thats what I was thinking as well. The art work is much nicer but there's way too much fade. Oh well 71 charger pm anyone . Knew I should asked for pics first though, can clearly see where some of the contingencies are supposed to go now.
W-409 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 This will be great as always. I like the paintjob so far, and decals look very good too. Interesting subject, these Funny Cars are great. Maybe I should continue my Chi Town Hustler...
brett Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Thanks Niko, yes you should. a chassis shot and a couple of the decals cleared, do have a couple small ones to go , and couldnt/ cant do the grille / taillight ones till those areas had been painted (just done that)
gasser59 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I always loved this car and its paint job. Looking good Brett. Keep at it.
SuperStockAndy Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Maybe I should continue my Chi Town Hustler... Heck, even I finished it before you! Brett, the Charger is looking awesome

Thinking about trying some slicks decals, modifying them for the Snowman dragster that Chip Woodall drove link http://www.pbase.com...image/137375032 I have a better pic from a Hot Rod magazine, 1972 Edited February 21, 2012 by tbusch
Dragracer Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 The chassis & paint/decals are looking good Brett, keep it up. Niko, get busy on that Chi-Town! LOL!, Would like to see it!
brett Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Thanks guys, Terry, its a custom mix DuPont, sorry dont have the original paint code. None of the snowman decals are close (that I've seen) to that, but it would be a cool and rare sight to see cars modelled that arent just the mainstreamers that everyone knows (if that makes sence).
Guest Dr. Odyssey Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 You are doing a great job on this, but I like the Revell decals better from the kit, less clunky-heavy looking.
NitroJunky Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Ive got this car in 1/16th scale but was never sure what colour the body should be, if it was just gloss red or a candy red. I am unsure if i should finish it in Snows Colours or find suitable decals for a another car that used the same body. Yours is looking good so far brett.
brett Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Thanks everyone. Gareth, you'll have to paint the car to go with whatever decals you use. If I had used the Slixx decals I would have to have used the darker candy red. But as I preferred the kit supplied decals I went with the solid red gloss. Not sure what other decals are out there for this body in 1:16th , I have 2 more 25th scale that I want to do but Im pretty sure there's no decals for either of them. Good luck and keep us posted when you decide to build it.
brett Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 got all the chassis work done now ride height
Mister Twister Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 You always do a nice job on these vintage f/c builds Brett....Real nice as usual!
Mooneyzs Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Brett... killer work man. this is a great looking build. you sure have been trucking along on it. keep up the great work.
