There use to be a hobbytown in Cville but it closed down and there was a train shop close to me which also closed down. The only one i have thats really "local" is in Warrenton but its slim picking in there for the most part.

I'm in Glade Spring, 20 min north of Bfistol. I have the same problem here.I have to drive to the other side of Bristol or go all the way into Johnson City Tenn.Even then there are slim pickins on good shops.bigtim

I'm in Bristol (VA side),I feel ya! There's a small shop off exit 5,looks like it's just a train store but they have a few model cars too. They're a bit pricey (not if you consider the drive to JC's Hobbytown though),and expect to be watched as if you're stealing something if the kid is running the store,or maybe he's just nosey? LOL!

I know this isn't any closer, but if you get out towards Tazewell,VA,I can PM you info on Gizmos Hobby-cool father/son duo that run the place for their brother/uncle. I'[ve shoeed there for years, and even after moving here last year,I still do the same thing....make a big layaway, pick it up,make another,LOL! I have some kits on layaway there now :P

Been several years since I have been in Charlottesville . I guess the one out on RT 29 must have closed up. He was a decent place .I know of a couple of places in Stanton, however , that's a bit of a drive , considering the time to cross Afton Mountian. Come down here to the I P M S Show this comming Saturday ........... Ed Shaver

Joel,

Definitely come to Richmond and see us at the IPMS show. Joker above and myself are 2 members of RAMS. Richmond Automotive Modelers Society.

We are going to have a kickin club display there on Saturday. There will be good vendors and lots to do. One vendor is selling off a chunk of a lifelong

collectors models, all priced very reasonably. Show is at the Richmond International Raceway.
