kenb Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Hi everyone, these are some photos of the finished rat rig. It's built from a revell 41 Chevy pick up and a Revell W900 Kenworth. I used as much parts as possible from these kits. Everything else is scratch built or spare parts box items. Moved the front suspension to the rear, then built my own front suspension. Used part of the frame rails, shorthened and squeezed down the fuel tanks and built all the add on accessories. There is a build log in the On The Workbench forum showing some of the techniques I used. Well, now on to some more crazyness. Ken
shucky Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I followed along on your wip thread and all I can say is this build came out awesome! Very nicely done and love all of the fine details as well as the realistic / mild weathering you gave it. Superb job!
Erik Smith Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Nice work Ken. There is a lot to take in on this build - and you have to think about it to realize it. That makes it a great model in my book. That made sense in my head, not sure it does in words. Great build, though.
Qwit Pushin Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Love it!!! Especially love that you exercised restraint when applying the weathering touches. Very nice, love the details!!
rustymodeler Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 All I can say is WOW. I really dig rat rods, but you have put an amazing twist to this one. Good job man.
peter31a Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Wow! That is one ratty rig! And I mean that in the nicest of possible ways. Excellent weathering. Job well done, Ken.
kenb Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks everyone. The next build is going to be more on the clean side, but remember, even clean cars and trucks have a little grease and grime somewhere. Ken

Guest Johnny Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 There was a guy started a 1:1 project like that using a 1953 International about 8 years back. Saw it last year in a pick-a-part near here. Guess he lost interest or ran out of money.. Cool build!
Chuck Most Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Loved seeing this one go together, love seeing the end result.
W-409 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Wow, Luckily I opened this Trucks section today, it looks VERY good! WIP was great to follow, and finished product is worth it. Weathering is perfect, and I like the detail. Thanks for sharing this beautiful build.
