'61 RANCHERO!!!

This is one of my favorites, I love the shape... So, I'm going to cut it up! :D

DSCN3986R.jpg

I measured a 1" section for the Bed and an 1/2" section for the Cab with masking tape.

Then I outlined the tape with a marker and removed the tape.

When you cut, be sure to cut inside the lines, don't go over! This will keep things much straighter.

I cut out the sections with a Cut-Off Wheel in the Dremel Tool. Then I placed the sections on a piece of 100 Grit Sandpaper and slowly moved them across the sandpaper untill they were smooth.

Back Together Again...

I glued the Body Sections back together again, making sure to line up the details!

Next I cut 3/4" from the Hood Section...

I glued it back together with Zap-A-Gap Green Label Glue.

I've got a similar project in the works, only I didn't shorten the cab area and the front end is removed completely. I'll be tagging along for sure!

SLICED THE SIDES OFF THE Z-28!!!

Revells Z-28 Funster is the 2nd kit used in this project.

I layed a strip of masking tape down each side of the Z-28 for the cut lines. Then I cut one side off with a Cut-Off Wheel in the Dremel Tool.

I used a piece of 100 Grit Sandpaper to level the side pieces up.

I cut and fit the Z-28 side to the Ranchero side untill I got a pretty good match.

Then I cut out the other Z-28 side and cut and fit it untill it matched the other side of the Ranchero.

Another cool DW style build from Ira!

EXCELLENT!

You've inspired me to do a build like this as I've mentioned before...I've got one going, and I'll be watching yours! ;)

CUTTING & FITTING!!!

I did a lot of this.....fitting the Z-28 sides to the Ranchero, and then cutting or carving the sides untill the fit was tight!

DSCN4024R.jpg

When the fit was right I traced the position of the Z-28 sides, on to the Ranchero. The areas marked with an "X" are to be cut.

Here is the first round of removing the excess plastic from Ranchero sides.

Z-28 RAMCHERO!!!

Here are the Z-28 Sides in place on the Ranchero...

I was thinking, it might be Fun to make this into an Off-Road Truck for the BAJA 500, with Roll Bars, Big Lites and Monster Engine.

Maybe even dirty this one up a bit. This might be a good time to try a little Weathering or at least a little Mud Splatering on the Ranchero...

What do you think? B)

That's insane - in a good way! Really creative design. When I saw your fifth photo, I was thinking fill in the wheel wells like an old Nash, but your idea looks cool!
