mrm Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) Hi gang. I have been away from this place for quite some time and I attempted to catch up with all the new builds and topics, but after the first hour found out that it is not possible. Anyway, while I was "in hiding" I polished a few die casts. Here is my Hamann California. It is based on a 1:18 Hotwheels model of the Ferrari California (V8) Model was taken apart, stripped and repainted in Giallo Modena Triplo Strati Pearl. It is a Ferrari color which on a real car will set you back about $40K. Luckylly for me it was "only" $100 for 4oz. The hamann bits consist of the front spoiler, side skirts, rear valance and wing. I molded them from resin as I did with the wheels. Or should I say with the wheel backs and centers. The "lips" on the wheels I turned from aluminum. Wheel centers, a-pillars, roof and aero bits were done in flat black. The trunk received just a little bit of carbon fiber. The front suspension was also lowered and the brakes received the needed detail. The tail lights and side markers were tinted. The interior is fully detailed. The engine came very well detailed, so I did not touch it. Edited March 28, 2012 by mrm
Steven7319 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Wow lovely build. I love everything about it and it looks really good with the roof up.
janositamas Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Fantastic build, the color combo suits the car well! Congrats!
Dr. Cranky Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Gorgeous yellow. I love it, and it sparkles too. Very nice.
crazyjim Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Since you've been away, maybe you forgot SHINY :) RULES! But looking at your build, you knew that.
Draggon Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Nice, I love the contrast between the gloss yellow and flat black!
3men2s Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 If it wasn't for the exaust tips, I would be believed it was a 1:1 TREMENDO !!!!!
mrm Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 Thanks guys for the great replies. I have made another one which is kind of opposite. The modifications are the same, but the ground effects are gloss black and the paint is Griggio Silverstone Matt. The interior is dark red and for carpeting I have used embossing powder. I had never used it before, but after reading an article in the last issue of MCM I decided to try it. Here she is. Enjoy and thanks for looking.
mrm Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 P.S. I have also forgotten to say, that the tires are also my moldings.
jonno356SC Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 looks awesome. no motor in these kits? shame.... how did u like the embossing powder. i read the same article. i usually use flocking. thanks
krazyglu Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Wow the stance is wicked...Did you just change the tires or did you alter the ride height? I really like the second one, but I bet these look nice sitting next to each other.
RodneyBad Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Wowwie. They both look Awesome but I'd go for the yellow one with black. Looks a whole lot Meaner and faster...
Scuderia Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 i must say these are so nice to look at good job!!
dig Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 excellent looking builds! don't know which I like better. I think the yellow pops really well, but if it were a 1:1, I'd go for the grey.
Captainugly Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Awesome looking job on both! Might have to try that embossing powder sometime.
