Draggon Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Actually the Moon Scope was readily available in the 60's-70's. Ira Dahm did a series in Car Model Mag entitled "Variations on a Moon Scope" Here are thee.
cobraman Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I remember those from the model magazine a long time ago. Nice to see them again.
ToyLvr Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I've had my George Barris version since I was a kid. I think I got it back in the early 70s...
Edsel-Dan Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 never saw it in stores, but have seen it listed on that evil place every so often. Goes very High too!!!!
ToyLvr Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 This Rampside is a resin repop of the obscure "Premier" model from the early 60s.
ToyLvr Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 You Fellas having fun with this? Let's try another. Ideal Toy Company, circa 1962. The cars are really small, maybe 1/87 scale????
Edsel-Dan Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I have seen a few of those. Once at an auction, butt hey were combined in a box lot 4 or 5 of them. Went more than I wanted to pay
Edsel-Dan Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I have several of that. It is still the Pyro kit!!!
ToyLvr Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 One more for today. how about a turbine engine powering a Corvette?
Casey Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Monogram 1/8 '65 Corvette....re-boxed by Bandai for the Japanese market?
Dominik Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 What about those? I didn't realise, if they are posted here before - saw them a couple days ago on ebay: Nice too: And my favorite one. Did any one built this?
Edsel-Dan Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I have seen the Cosma Ray Vette, and almost had a couple Builts of the Mannix Roadster. Believe it or not, that is why we will not get MPC's 67-69 Olds Toronado back. That is what is left of the annual.
ToyLvr Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I'd love to get hold of the "Mannix" kit, as I like TV & movie related models. I saw the real (?) Mannix car at a "Stars Cars" museum in the tourist-trap town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I was actually lucky enough to find an unbuilt "Cosma Ray" at a swap meet a few years ago - it cost me dearly. I love Starbird custom cars, and wish that more of them had been kitted. I think that one of the resin casters is now offering a repop of the Cosma Ray. I have the 1/8 scale Vette, which I got as a kid back in the 70s. One of those rare items that has survived from my childhood. We should start a new theme on who has had a model car for the longest time. Of course, some of you guys have probably been building since '55, and got a head start on me.....

On the who has a model from their childhood, yes . I still have an un altered , un adulterated an untouched 1964 AMT Ford Galaxy and a 1961 AMT Styline Ford Ranchero .................
cobraman Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 My oldest built from my younger days is an AMT Cobra. I think it came out in 1963 and I still have it after about almost 50 years.
ToyLvr Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Ever seen this rare one? It's an adaptation of the equally rare "Man from Uncle" model kit from the 1960s TV show. Also known as the "Piranha"... Took me a long time to find this one to add to my collection of Corvair-powered vehicles.
knarf Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I was searching for a pic of the Ski-Doo kit, I think I may have seen it ONCE, and came upon this. Now this is wierd! i built this as a kid! wow i had forgotten all about that one:)
Casey Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 How 'bout a Ringo '56 T-bird?: 1/8 MPC Honda ATC 90?:
