Darren B Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Heres a Dr. Pepper one I bet all those ship in a bottle builders wished that their bottles had a removable bottom to their bottles! Yes I to wish they would reissue these, would get a case of each one........well maybe just one of each!
Modelmartin Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I bet all those ship in a bottle builders wished that their bottles had a removable bottom to their bottles! It has a pretty nice blown hemi and supertrick wheels!
Fabrux Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I came across this little gem: And this seemingly polar opposite twin pack: The twin pack I found during a Google image search. I couldn't access the original image (PB is blocked at work) and the original page is supposedly a thread on this very messageboard but the link is broken. I would like to find out more information about this as the Chevy pickup looks to have different decals than any other issue.
Austin T Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I believe there is also a spark plug version of that VW.
Don Sikora II Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) And this seemingly polar opposite twin pack: The twin pack was a K-Mart special...one of several different two packs made for K-Mart over a period of two or three years. The Chevy truck has the same basic decals as the Hot Rod issue, but they were printed in green rather than red. I don't think they were used in any other issues of the kit. The parts were molded in metallic green...the same color used for the Revell 1992 Grand Prix GTP and Monogram Callaway Corvette Speedster. Edited May 15, 2013 by Don Sikora II
ChrisR Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I believe there is also a spark plug version of that VW. That is correct. It is the Champion Spark Plug version. I have this version, not the greatest kit but nice to have anyway.
Daddyfink Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Wow! I used to have that Lancia and the Bug! I am currently trying to find them both again!
Edsel-Dan Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I would love to see them re-issue that Land Rover!!!! Been after one for some time, but..................................... I Ain't Fort Knox!!!
Tom Geiger Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I would love to see them re-issue that Land Rover!!!! Me too! I'd love to have a few of them!
Scott Colmer Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I hope this works. My fotki sharing options seem to have dropped off. http://public.fotki.com/Scottcolmer/the_kit_collection/my-most-holy-grail.html Well, the link works. Not sure where the forum sharing option went. Scott
Casey Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 I opened your image in a new window, copied the url, and used the image icon here to paste it in your post. I also saw the sharing options are down to two on your fotki page.
Casey Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 Monogram '70 Boss 429 with Hasegawa co-branding:
Russell C Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Neon Dudes? Excellent marketing. Or something. I have no idea what prompted me to get this. Might have been something given to me, instead. Most likely I blacked out the windows as an experiment for a slammer look. Says "Aston Martin" on the bottom of this one.
beeRS Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I picked this one up for just 4.99GBP (about $6-$7) in 1995 from Toys-R-Us. Never seen one since.
Fabrux Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I have that Escort kit in an AMT box. Which is weird as that style Escort was never sold in North America. The kit has both LHD and RHD dashes.
heinz74 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 i build that escort once ..molded in red from a Revell kit..
Erik Smith Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 AMT and Revell both had XR-3 Escorts. I think the matchbox is the revell kit, but could be wrong. The AMT kit is a curbside with opening rear hatch - again, I could be wrong. The revell kit saw a number of boxes and incarnations including an EXP and a Turbo version.
jaydar Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 i didn't read this whole thread, but this is pretty interesting: i mean - "... torque reactive drive" somehow screams "rubber band" to me! thread here on HAMB http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=238665&page=4 Thanks for that memory. I had one. Great fun. Dog hated it. joe.
Deathgoblin Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I'd like to find all 3 of these. Especially the Stratos.
Richard Bartrop Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 What about those? I didn't realise, if they are posted here before - saw them a couple days ago on ebay: Nice too: And my favorite one. Did any one built this? I remember getting the Astro-Vette when it first came out, and canniblizing the chassis for a hot rod. Dare I ask what that one went for?
ToyLvr Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I found an unbuilt Cosma Ray kit a few years ago at a swap meet. It cost me drly, but it was on my "Holy Grail" list. Later on I found out that one of the resin casters had made a repop of it....
ToyLvr Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Although this one isn't a car kit, I thought y'all might find it interesting.... Edited August 31, 2013 by ToyLvr
Draggon Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I seem to remember buying the Mannix Roadster as a kid and being severely disappointed it didn't have the stock bumpers and grille
