Foxer Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I like it. Sectioning it really gave it a sports car look along with the roof removal.
Jantrix Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Only about 70% happy with this... I see some of the issues you're probably irritated by and I would call them just .... learning for next time. From a design stand point, I think you absolutely hit a home run. I've never seen one done like this. It is VERY original and inspiring. I guarantee people are seeing this and looking at their stash for something similar. I'd like to see you do a couple more builds to clear the cobwebs and then revisit the idea and give it another try, with all the new skills and the lessons you learned from this. In my book brother, originality counts and I like it.
turn1wonder Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Thanks for all the kind words Billy, Jim, Mike, Ray, Caleb, Felix and Rob! If I were to do this one over, (and I DO have another '40 Ford) the first change would be to use the Cobra windshield and frame. Next would be to not lose the headlight lenses. The wheel openings need a softer touch and the front fenders widened and the rears rotated down towards the front. This was version 2.0 because I ripped it apart and moved things around after having the first go at it. Oh, I also did all the bodywork without remembering to NOT erode the front and rear light openings. Here is the method used to plan the cutting... ...the thumbs are 1:1 scale. Before doing another '40 Ford, this now stripped Willies is running around my head... Bob
jcbigpaw Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Whether you like it or not you did a good job completing it. Reminds me of some of the "kit" cars I've seen
surfjunke Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 (edited) Great build & idea. Very well done. I see what you mean by the Cobra windsheild. No matter, it is still very cool & turned out well. The layout for the coupe version looks cool as well. Edited April 6, 2012 by surfjunke
Dr. Cranky Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Very cool, I like it. And I also like that green pearlized pant job on the Willys.
turn1wonder Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 Thank you for the kind words Joe, Scott and Virgil! The paint on the Willies (now stripped from it because of a Future overkill) was a one-shot lime something-or-other. Bob
maltsr Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Nice sectioning job and congrats on having the courage to see it through!
turn1wonder Posted April 7, 2012 Author Posted April 7, 2012 Thanks Paul. I almost saw it through...a wall at one point, lol. Bob
maltsr Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I hear ya, Bob I have one of those projects at the moment, I made the mistake of posting it on the workbench thread and now I daren't work on it unless it too is introduced to a wall
