Chuck Most Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 http://now.msn.com/now/0416-lamborghini-aventador-fire.aspx?ocid=ansnow11 Maybe Lambo ought to start making fire suppression systems standards in their cars.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 For 376K you can buy three houses in certain parts of the country.
Harry P. Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 For 376K you can buy three houses in certain parts of the country. In Detroit you can buy ten houses for that!
Joe Handley Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 In Detroit you can buy ten houses for that! Heck, my sister ran into a classmate last week who is in the process of buying a house in Wheaton for less than I'm paying for my 200!
Fat Brian Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 First Ferrari builds cars that spontaneously catch fire, now Lambourghini is building cars that spontaneously catch fire, maybe soon all of our cars will be able to spontaneously catch fire, we can only dream.
Guest Johnny Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 In Detroit you can buy ten houses for that! The whole square block for that In Detroit according to my daughter! Down Town!!!

The Pontiac Fiero did well in that department years ago! So did my '63 Bug.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Chuck, I remember that. Also YES, YES, YES, those mid 60s VWs Bugs caught on fire all the time. My friend had one and we had to pull off by the side of the road during a trip and smother a fire that had started underneath the rear seat where he kept the battery.
Foxer Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 More like they should make a "rich owner suppression system!"
peekay Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 In 1975 I sold a 64 VW and saw it by chance 10 days later on the side of the road. The rear half was all blackened and still smouldering and the new owner too distraught to notice me sneaking past. Embarassing.
Jon Cole Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) I like how that guy posing with the melted Lambo has turned into an internet meme. There a a few good ones. Jalopnik has them. Edited April 17, 2012 by Jon Cole
Austin T Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) Man the pintos,corvairs,Fire-eros,and now a Aventador. You would figure with those two big vents on each door would keep the car cool. Edited April 17, 2012 by Austin T

You would think that for 376K, it could at least not erupt into flames for no apparent reason! Well... other than being an Italian supercar!
Austin T Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 You would think that for 376K, it could at least not erupt into flames for no apparent reason! Well... other than being an Italian supercar! No its actually a cheap car, shipping tax is what drives the price up so high.Lol.
Chuck Most Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 No its actually a cheap car, shipping tax is what drives the price up so high.Lol. Knock off the destination charge and the gas-guzzler tax and you're only looking at about $380,000. Now, THAT I could swing for $500 down and 36 months. First place I'd cruise to would be AutoZone, where I would pick up a small fire extinguisher.

Maybe ask the fire dep't to follow you around... at least to AutoZone.

I assume you're not a professional mathematician...

I assume you're not a professional mathematician... Yeah- sticker price of 376k, but from what I'm seeing, they're actually going for more like 400. Some guys will pay to play. Well, maybe not now that this video is going viral...
robiwon Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 (edited) That sucks for Lamborghini. Good video though. Fiero fires were over rated though. Traced back to an oil pan change in size on the '84 model year Fiero. They made a running change to a larger oil pan but failed to add more oil to the engine to compensate. Most 84's left the factory a quart low on oil. My '86 has never had a fire! Edited April 21, 2012 by robiwon
