traditional Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 (edited) This relatively simple model of a '40 Willys gasser was built around 1980 using the Revell Stone/Woods/Cook kit and modified to look like a typical basic B/Gasser of the early '60s. Modifications included typical details of that era....rear fender lip, '40 style grill opening, simplified interior, hood scoop (using injectors rather than blower), plumbing-pipe push bar, and some then popular amber tinted windows. My paint preference back then was automotive lacquer with pactra details and Letraset class number. Foil trim was cut from muffler-tape. Now-a-days, I'd have added a lot more detail, but thanks to a display case, it's stayed in good condition and I'm happy to have it as a page from my modelling past. Edited May 2, 2012 by traditional
Austin T Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 You did a nice job on the doors and I think the trunk,Can we see more engine pic's?
Bartster Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I love this build! Like a trip backin time with 2 stops. '80 & '65! SO cool!
Guest Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 That's a really cool looking Willys Clifford! Sure doesn't look like it was built over thirty years ago. I like the gasket detail around the rear fenders. That's something a lot of people overlook.
W-409 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Very Cool Willys build. Can't believe that it's like brand new, after around 30 years sitting in the display case! I like the paint on it and you nailed that right stance and look of early 60's Gassers.
Jantrix Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Wow. That looks dynamite. Never mind its a 30+ year old build which is in itself an accomplishment.
Draggon Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Thats great, I dont care if its simple, you captured the look! Ya know Clifford, you build the most cleanest models!
Terry Sumner Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Some folks have called me the Gasser Nazi because of my love for accurately built gasser models. Well that may be...I dunno. But what I do know is that this one is excellent! Great job my friend!
Alan Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 (edited) Nice, just noticed the rear fender welting, nice touch, I think that is the first time I have seen that done ....... Another home run ! Alan Edited May 3, 2012 by Alan
