blunc Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Do a google search for "El-Catalina" and you'll find the stillborn project that preceded the '66.
S. Svendsen Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) Finished up my Buick Grand Camino mashup. Now that this one is on the shelf, I've been wondering how the El-Camino might look with a Monte Carlo front end. Here's a link to all the build details and more photos. http://www.svensworl...amino_page.html Edited September 12, 2012 by S. Svendsen
Chuck Most Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Nice! Much better than the one I built a few years back (and no longer own). Though mine was basically an '86 El Camino parts donor kit, which had no engine or wheels when I got it. I didn't know what the Regal nose was from at the time, but I now think it was an old AMTsnap-together NASCAR kit. I also added a Vortec 4.3 V6 from a '95 Sonoma and some American five-spokes.
Austin T Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 Where...did...you...get...those....SWEET BULLHORNS!I can think of several projects that would benefit with those.
Chuck Most Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I carved the horns out of a thick chunk of sprue from an old Ertl semi tractor kit. Then for the base, I slipped a piece of square Plastruct over them, and filed the tops so they'd look more rounded. After that I just bent and nudged the ends so they'd resemble horns.
Kit Basher Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Go Chuck Go! Love that Cattleac. Udderly marvelous!
Austin T Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Well I hate to say it but,my build has been pushed to the back burner.
Chuck Most Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Same story on the Cattleac- sad thing is it is 90% completed at this point- it's that last 10 percent that's breaking things.
Bartster Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 l wish l could post pics! l have a '67 1/2 "Palamino" l started a few months back. l used a junk '67 lmpala body, cut the roof & deck lid off, leaving the rear, vertical part of the trunk in place. Next l cut the roof & top edge of the bed/tailgate from a '68 (hence '67 1/2) el Camino. l cut it to fit the curves of the lmpala's rear fenders & got it very close to perfect! Very little putty/filler will be involved. l will also be able to use the el Camino's bed floor & inner walls. So far it looks like GM could have made it. l had planned on building it as a factory stock phantom (is that an oxymoron?) car. l don't think the hot-rodder in me will allow that though!
Chuck Most Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 The 'Cattleac' is as close to finished as it's ever going to get- should have pics up shortly!
Austin T Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 (edited) Well I had an idea last night for the charger,After sacraficing an elcamino parts car I got this. The lines flow ALOT better then what I attempted to do at first.I see lots of superglue and dremel time in my future.I also had someone give it a name, The El Kacharger Edited December 3, 2012 by Austin T
