FASTBACK340 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 May I indulge with an off-topic post? Just when I thought I've seen it all....especially since I live in the NYC area, something comes along that get's your attention. As hobbyist whom enjoy modifying their chosen passion, we can relate. Me, my wife,& another couple had gone into Manhattan Friday night. We parked off of Manhattan Island and took the subway in. Fast forward to 3am and we're waiting for the R train when I spot a cat carrier with something Orange peering out.... This is what I was greeted with: We met a street performer who had Orange, Blue, and Rainbow-colored rats. He had them eating off his tongue.... But it just goes to show we all enjoy being unique. We just choose different paths. Here's my buddy wondering how long it would take for his Pit Bull to inhale it....
Fat Brian Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Dying their pets wild colors is popular in some circles, first world problems I guess.
W-Machine Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 As long as no children or animals were harmed, I guess it's OK with me.
Modlbldr Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 So.....Would these be responsible for starting the rainbow plague??? Later-
Joe Handley Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Dying their pets wild colors is popular in some circles, first world problems I guess. There are some areas that is illegal, can't remember if it happened here in the Chicago burbs or not, but there was a woman that died the hair on her poodle pink with beet juice as a breast cancer awareness thing (she may have been a survivor as well as had freinds that also were) and her community had a law that specifically made that a fineable offence! Apparently they had issues with rwsidents trapping rabbits, dieing them in Easter type colors, then turning them loose afterwards so they city had a law against it for any and all animals ?!?!?!
FASTBACK340 Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 The Rats were dyed with water based food coloring. Not that I'm condoning abusing animals through these or similar practices, but it was unusual seeing a Orange Rat.... The couple whom had possession of the Rats, on the other hand..... Wow, they were OUT there!

The70judgeman Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Whatever tickles your fancy I guess. Seems they're just having a little fun with their pets and they look healthy. So, no harm done.
FASTBACK340 Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) Whatever tickles your fancy I guess. Seems they're just having a little fun with their pets and they look healthy. So, no harm done. That was my intention when I started this thread. I wanted to illustrate how people with dis-similar interests can do similar things. My point was that I got a good laugh at how he "modified" his pets. To me it's no worst than putting flames on a vintage car. I thought those Rats were pretty neat....
