Scale-Master Posted June 8, 2012 Author Posted June 8, 2012 Prop… Engine installed… Gear doors opened…
TooOld Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 I've been looking at getting one of these kits even tho' they are out of my normal price range . I'm a bit confused because I keep finding more than one part number for the A6M5 Zero . Which one are you building ?
Scale-Master Posted June 8, 2012 Author Posted June 8, 2012 According to the box end cap: #52 Item 60309**6800
Harry P. Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Very impressive! And your detailing would be have been all the more impressive if you had included a coin in the photos (especially those interior shots), to show how small the kit actually is.
mikethepoormodeler Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) Mark, are you sure that is the right wiper motor for that version Zero? You might want to ask Bill Geary. j/k! That is a beautifully built kit, but coming from your bench it's not surprising that it looks so good. Edited June 11, 2012 by mikethepoormodeler
Scale-Master Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) Finished: And here’s one for Harry, as requested… Edited June 11, 2012 by Scale-Master
Jim B Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) Fantatic looking Zero! Wow! That's small. What is that? 1/72? Edited June 12, 2012 by Jim B
Chuck Kourouklis Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Yup, beautiful bird. Now if nobody minds, I need to excuse myself to go to the nearest corner and fall over laughing...
Kaleb Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Dude that thing is awesome, I really think you have magnifying eyeballs.
Harry P. Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Any Photoshop trickery going on in that last photo?
Scale-Master Posted June 12, 2012 Author Posted June 12, 2012 Any Photoshop trickery going on in that last photo? Nope, no Photoshop tricks. It is a real photo....
Harry P. Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Nope, no Photoshop tricks. It is a real photo.... No doubt it's a real photo. It's the relative scale of the model and the quarter that's suspect...
Scale-Master Posted June 12, 2012 Author Posted June 12, 2012 (edited) Yeah, that quarter has an inflation problem... To be clear, as mentioned in the WIP, the model has about a 13.5 inch wing span, it's 1/32 scale. Edited June 12, 2012 by Scale-Master
Art Laski Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Nope, no Photoshop tricks. It is a real photo.... But maybe not a real quarter?? Looks great, Mark!
Kaleb Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 You do remember the ruler that he has in one of his photos right.
Harry P. Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 You do remember the ruler that he has in one of his photos right. No rulers in any photo. In fact I suggested he add it, so everyone could get a sense of scale. But he went with the giant mutant quarter instead...
Kaleb Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I know, the one I was talking about was #14 in this post http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55108&st=0 Makes me wonder what his house looks like
Scale-Master Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 That giant ruler is a Photoshop picture Steve Boutte made for me. There is no real "big ruler" counterpart. Maybe this will help clear things up:
Kaleb Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Ah. I am starting to dislike photoshop illusions lol. Never know with what china can make I figured it could been a real ruler for practical jokes like the quarter.
Terry Sumner Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 This should help Harry... I have the same kit. It's 1/32 scale and is widely regarded as one of the best kits Tamiya has ever produced! The squares are 1 inch and the car model is a 1/25th scale 66 Nova. Hosted on Fotki
David G. Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 No matter the size, it's an excellent build! David G.
Harry P. Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 The reason I wanted him to include a coin in the shots is so people could see just how small that cockpit is, yet so amazingly detailed! I know how big (or small, depending on your viewpoint) the kit is... but I think many others really had no idea just how tiny yet detailed that cockpit is.
