Scuderia Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Does anyone if all the versions of the Cougar Elim. kits had the same wheels? I want to build mine up like the second pic, I like those wheels. I assume they do but we all know how that goes.. Thanks.
espo Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Not absolutlly sure, but as I recall the first (blue car) kit was a reissue for Wal Mart only and were usually the same as the original issue. They also had many other AMT reissues. It was a good kit as I recall. The wheels might be found in some other kits from that era.
martinfan5 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Are the wheels on the yellow one the same as the ones that came with the 69 roadrunner kit?
Scuderia Posted June 24, 2012 Author Posted June 24, 2012 if its the roadrunner i did years back i'd venture to say no. I saw some google pix of the yellow elim wheels and they are indeed diff.
Fat Brian Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 I think the wheels in the yellow kit are supposed to be like 68 GT mustang wheels.
mrmike Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 The wheels in the blue box art kit are the '68 Mustang GT styled wheels. I'd rather have the Mercury Styled Steel wheels which are available from Missing Link Resin.
AzTom Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 The "Replica" version has that rim. It has F60-15 Goodyear tires.
Chuck Most Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 The blue one should have the same styled steel wheels as the 429 version.
Scuderia Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 Thanks for the referrence and input everyone. I appreciate it, I won the kit and hoping its here before weekend.
Sport Suburban Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) The blue box kit has a pic of the 69 428 CJ version, but it has the decals of the 428 and it is the Eliminator version with the wheels from the Yellow box art and a Boss 302 engine. If you want the Mercury styled steel wheels and the 428CJ you need this kit below. Also note that this kit shown below is also the Eliminator version with extra chrome wheels and some other chrome parts too. Edited June 27, 2012 by Sport Suburban
Scuderia Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 The first part of your sentence confused me.
Fat Brian Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 The blue Wal-Mart kit has the decals of the 428 version but actually is the 302 version.
Scuderia Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 I liked the stripes on the yellow one better.. Hmm. Thanks for the info tho Brian
Fat Brian Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Okay, I have the red 428 CJ kit and the blue Wal-Mart kit in my stash, the blue kit has the square slotted wheels from the yellow kit and the 302 engine with the incorrect 428 Eliminator stripes. The red 428 CJ kit has the Cragar SS style wheels.
Scuderia Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 OK at least the blue one has the wheels i wanted... how the heck did they get that stuff mixed up? lol
Fat Brian Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 The Eliminator package could be had with either the 302 or 428 engine and AMT made both versions and both are correct for a factory option. They put different wheels in each kit and when they used to put the description of what was in the box on the side of the box there wasn't any problem. It looks like somehow they test shot the 428 CJ kit but some time later decided to issue the 302 and just used the box art anyway.
Scuderia Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 Ahh I see, right on. I don't know much about Eliminators or the CJ I admit. I just like how it looks haha
Sport Suburban Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 The first part of your sentence confused me. I'm sorry about that. I was a little tired and thankfully it was cleared up by the following posts.
Scuderia Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 lol no problem, i've said far worse I'm sure.
