crazyjim Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 When did Scale Dreams start a $10 minimum? I usually get my BMF from there.
gtx6970 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Anyone used the model masters foil sheets ?????? compariable to BMF better than or stay away from it ? my local hobby shop stocks it and not BMF brand.
David G. Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Anyone used the model masters foil sheets ?????? compariable to BMF better than or stay away from it ? my local hobby shop stocks it and not BMF brand. I've tried it. It works but the adhesive is thick and stringy like rubber cement and is very difficult to remove cleanly. The thickness of the adhesive can also prevent the foil from laying down smoothly. I'd avoid it. David G.
JamesW Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 When did Scale Dreams start a $10 minimum? I usually get my BMF from there. He's been doing it for over a year. With the high volume of orders and the time it takes to pick, pack and ship he said he had to start doing that because he would get a LOT of orders for just 1 small thing.
cobraman Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Like a lot have said, I get mine on ebay. Normally about 9.00 total with shipping. It normally comes in a flat envelope put between 2 pieces of cardboard. Speaking of BMF does anyone know what the shelf life is on this stuff ? I got a sheet one time that would not stick very well and my guess was maybe it was old. (?) I was able to use it by clearing it after I had it on. I don't normally add the BMF before I clear as I prefer to do it afterwards.
my80malibu Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Maybe you had a bad batch I like the model master stuff but have a hard time finding it I've tried it. It works but the adhesive is thick and stringy like rubber cement and is very difficult to remove cleanly. The thickness of the adhesive can also prevent the foil from laying down smoothly. I'd avoid it. David G.
Edsel-Dan Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I had one sheet of Model Master. Garbage. Soft is only Part of it. The stuff Felt like Mylar instead of Foil, and like there was a sheet of Cellophane between the surface & adhesive. The adhesive felt like Weak Double-face tape. Once on it would pick up a scar from the lightest touch of the edge of your fingernail.
