crazyjim Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 My latest. Didn't care much for the kit. The main purpose of the build was to practice thin lines with the AB. Hey Bart!! Recognize anything?
Sam Cates Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 That two tone with the airbrush looks excellent Jim, nice engine detail too!
TooOld Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Looks good Jim ! One of my favorite cars , but you are right , it's not much of a kit .
crazyjim Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 Thanks Sam and Bob. I was trying to get some fogging going down the side. I seem to remember factory models having something similar. The engine was clear on the camera. I can never get clear engine pics. The heater hoses are too large.
Bartster Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 l REALLY like the paint. l actually had a '69 coupe about this color, but it looked nothing like this!! Gotta love the SHINY! Outta sight air cleaner, by the way. Bart.
foxbat426 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I love it! I don't know what the problem is with the kit, but it looks great.
fatkidd Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I like this one, sir. Yet another one to add to the SHINY hall of Fame. SHINY RULES!!!
phil-east Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 looks real nice, the paint is fantastic ! which kit was it ? i have the revell muscle one to build.
crazyjim Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 Thank you all. The kit is 1 of 3 in the box. There's still a Barracuda and a Cutlass to build. I meant the dog, Bart. Fatkidd gave me some painting tips that I was trying to put to use.
JunkPile Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Do I see just a bit of rust in the quarter-panel. Maybe not
Bartster Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 l see it now! l gotta get the internet hooked to the computer. This cell phone screen is SO small. My daughter is so happy one of her puppies is famous, lol! l just stripped a built-up of that '69(?)Barracuda. lt looks like the headlights are too small. l'm loving these new painting techniques you're bringing to your builds. VERY nice work. Can't wait to see more. Bart.
torinobradley Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Awesome build-up of an older, one-piece chassis kit of one of my favorite 1:1 subjects. It looks like you got the windshield trim right, as well! Kudos!
Harold Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 One of my favorite cars and you did a great job on it.
Guest Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Your airbrush work looks good Jim as well as the rest of the model. If you ever want a better chassis, the one from the AMT '66 Fairlane is practically a drop in.
kruleworld Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 very nice torino. looks good. I can never get clear engine pics. back off a bit to let the camera focus. if you have a macro mode (flower icon) it'll work even better.
crazyjim Posted June 30, 2012 Author Posted June 30, 2012 Do I see just a bit of rust in the quarter-panel. Maybe not Rust?? On one of my builds? Not a chance.

That same box has a Barracuda and a Cutlass. Those will be coming up so I can get rid of a rather large box. New painting techniques are fun. Thanks to a hands on lesson from the premier HOK guy - Fatkidd.

The engraving isn't the greatest.
crazyjim Posted June 30, 2012 Author Posted June 30, 2012 Thank you very much Harold, Rob, Roger, and Walter. One of these day I have to settle in and just practice taking engine pics. I'll get it right yet. Sorry for the delay in replying. Marcia's brother and family came in from Colorado so met them up in Amelia Island for a couple of days. Mark recently returned safely from a tour in Afghanistan. We had to make the 3 hour drive to see him for a couple of days.

Thanks to a hands on lesson from the premier HOK guy - Fatkidd. And we barely scratched the surface on the fun to be had with an airbrush...I'm glad I could help. The paint work on this is well done. And the fade is top notch. Practice paid off, sir!
crazyjim Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 Thanks, Kid. A fresh batch of HOK paint arrived so I'll be out practicing more.
