Chief Joseph Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 For you scratchbuilders, here's a heads-up: I was in Hobby Lobby the other day and noticed some new items in the diorama/train landscaping section. They were big sheets of textured white styrene; most of them were brickwork or wood siding in HO scale, but they also had a double-diamond style sheet in 1/24 scale. Looked to be perfect to make items such as running boards, tool boxes, and such. Quite a large sheet for about $6.50, and with a 40% coupon it's almost cheap
Wayne's World Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I was going to post the same thing. I got 2 packs over the weekend. Its a lot cheaper (and much bigger) than Plastruct diamond plate
crazyjim Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I'll have to check it out at HL on Saturday after our FAST meeting.
Wayne's World Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) JTT Architectural Model Parts/JTT & Partners/JTT Scenery Products all appear on the package. The website is: www.sceneryproducts.com In the store, the product is located between the Xacto blades and Woodland Scenic trees. Edited July 4, 2012 by Wayne's World
Chillyb1 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Very good to know. I've been wanting to get some diamond plate.
Green Duster Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Now I just have to wait for my store to open up. It will still be 60 miles away. Building it now. Open this fall.
Jim B Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I checked that Website. All I saw was trees. Lots & lots of trees, and some other things; but no tread plate.
Modelcollector Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Jim, look under MODEL SUPPLIES and then under pattern sheets.
rmvw guy Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I got some today after seeing this, thanks! I was saving my 40% off coupon all week trying to think of something I needed. They were clearing out the '62 Buick Electra 225 for $11.39 also, so I got something I didn't need, another model!
martinfan5 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Can someone post a link? , I just looked on the website, and could not find it
crazyjim Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Try this http://www.miniaturetree.com/viewproduct.asp
martinfan5 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Try this http://www.miniature...viewproduct.asp Thanks Jim, not sure if its on my end, but the link is not working
Fat Brian Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Here is what it looks like, it's a tad out of scale but not too much. I found it one the model trian isle by the tiny trees. http://www.modelrectifier.com/search/product-view.asp?ID=11020
mikemodeler Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I saw this yesterday at a HL and while it is nice to have, it doesn't compare to the truer to scale Don Mills treadplate. I also noticed that this product is only .010" thick and very thin and flimsy. I am not a rivet counter but there is a better treadplate out there, Don Mills.
crazyjim Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I saw the diamond plate at HL last week. Their price was $6.95. Online was $4.95. I didn't buy it but I'll be looking for the treadplate.
