Joker Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Hope Y'all seen my Brass Knuckle shifter how-to. Link...http://www.modelcars...topic=56091&hl= This one is for a kustom laminated tear drop shifter. Smaller ones can be used as turn signal knobs or radio knobs. Materials.. Thinnest white styrene and colored styrene of your choice straight pins. Tenax R-7..sanding sticks...clear acrylic paint. Hemostat to hold the pin while sanding. Brush on the tenax and make a samich..upper left of pic. Using a sanding stick ..rough up all sides..then drill a small hole for the pin handle..super glue in place. The shape is cut with wire cutters first and the final shaping is done with sanding sticks using rough to fine. Be sure to use water on the sanding sticks for smoother shapes. First is the square shape ..then the tear shape using rough sanding stick then the final shape with a finer sanding stick..last step is to dip it in clear. This is the final product..the shapes are beer tap handle..tear drop..and arrow head. side view Installed...hahahaha James aka Joker

crazyjim Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I googled that stuff and it appears to be available in the UK, not the US. I'll check with Hobby Lobby when I go there.

The store I go to has a big RC area too..they use styrene for all kinds of projects and repairs. The rectangular styrene is in little cubby hole type shelf. Good luck

I just haven't built anything recently that'll do it justice. I try to include the unexpected in my trades. Glad you enjoyed them Fred. Made up a set for a new club member as a welcome gift. All he said was Wow....LOL These latest ones are Christmasy in nature...candy cane colors. Brush on some Micro Kristal Klear and they are good to go.

bobthehobbyguy Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing. bobthehobbyguy
Jantrix Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 A couple of pieces of old tail light material might work to if you just need one or two. And like red of course.
