mnwildpunk Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 You'll probably laugh but I'm color blind so I don't pay attention to color combinations. I'm building a 54 sedan delivery and I've been looking on the net and finding interior pictures is like finding hens teeth! I was going to do gray carpet and seats. The dash will be body color? (metallic blue) and b.m.f. door panels would be blue & gray with black armrests. Would any of these colors clash? I can't find a picture of the rear area would it be wood like a truck bed or carpet like the trunk of a sedan?
Casey Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 There's nothing silly about your question, and less about being colorblind. It's something those of us who see the full range of color take for granted. Grey, white, black, tan/beige, and white are good interior colors, since they go well with most exterior colors, so any would work well with a blue exterior.
charlie8575 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I do know the sedan deliveries usually had a medium brown interior from the factory, which may or may not work with blue depending on the shade. Testors flat brown would be fairly close. As it sounds like you're doing more of a hot-rod, I would tend to go with light gray, light tan or a medium or dark blue that would go with the exterior. Art Anderson Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Originally, those sedan deliveries used what was called "Battleship Linoleum" on the floor of the cargo platform, edged with extruded aluminum angle material. Art
Wayne Buck Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I pretty much agree with Charlie on this one, Can't see ya going wrong with a light Tan or or Gray interior with any shade of Blue on the outside. A darker interior color may look a little "off"...unless it's black, of course.
cobraman Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Sounds good to me. I feel your pain as I am also colorblind at least with some colors. When I was in high school my sister would lay out my clothes because I mixed some pretty weird stuff.
espo Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 You might be able to find some information if you can find the Oct. 2011 issue of Collectible Automobile Magazine. Hemming Classic Car Magazine also had a profile on an unrestored Hudson sedan not longago. While these are not the sedan delivery you are after, it may give you some good ideas on what interiors realy looked like at that time. I hope this will help somehow, I'd like to see the build on this.
