Model Cars Magazine Forum

When Gary Schmitd sold SAE to Kalmback, I lost interest. It USED to be ALOT like the EARLY MCM, but as time passed, Kalmback cut Car Modeler out and focused on SAE. THEN they only had ONE magazine every other month. Not good. Now, if you DON'T subscribe to their rag you CAN'T get into their website to follow articles in the mag. Plus I KNOW Gregg, and He's got a MUCH NICER personality for a publisher. That other guy is too busy to even make small talk or show himself to be a NORMAL human being. He made a REALLY CRAPPY first impression on me, and it stuck!!!!

Barnes and Noble might make the difference....IF MCM is there as an alternative, I might BUY it over SA....But its gotta get there first....And George , that guy is the editor......

This subject has been raked over the coals for years. But I would like to make the following trite observation...

One forum/magazine is warm and Greggarious.

The other is cold and Haughty.

To continue, I find that this site offers plenty of opportunity for discussion, debate and bonding, which is totally missing elsewhere. I find the other site completely insipid and uninteresting.

Insipid:

1.
Lacking flavor or zest; not tasty.

2.
Lacking qualities that excite, stimulate, or interest; dull.

Skip the tobasco and add some Jim Beam. And with that I bid you all good night. It's raining and Marcia is insisting that I grill steaks tonight for dinner. (filet mignon, baked potato, salad, corn on the cob). Have GREAT evening.

OK, I wonder why there is such an interest in the SA forum when we have MCM? I would have thought that this was the to be and yet, there is the repeated discussions about SA. While some of the discussion is light-hearted, some of the comments have been a bit more targeted towards being complaints about SA, which I thought was a no-no here. Yes, SA has changed their format again and many members there are up in arms about it. I understand the inherent rivalry since both have a magazine and a forum but, I once read that any comments made about SA here was forbidden since they have their forum and MCM has theirs. So, what gives as I am just trying to understand what is what here. How about it Harry, can you clarify this for myself and others?

Yeah, I don't get the periodic thread about SA(noE) either.

You don't talk to your girlfriend about how hot your ex-girlfriend is/was.

And when I want to talk Chevys, I don't go to a Ford dealer.

It just seems kinda rude ... like going to a friend's house and comparing it to somebody else's house.

Unless I missed it, I don't know of any specific rule here that forbids people from talking about other forums. But your post makes me think about whether this sort of thread is accomplishing anything positive. "After further review," as they say, maybe it's best to close this one.
