sjordan2 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) A subject on the Avanti started in the 1:1 reference topic, where I included this, but I thought it was worth putting in the Big Boyz section. An amazing Swiss modeler named Roger Zimmerman created the 1:12 Avanti and Toronado shown below (he worked on the Avanti over a span of 45 years), and is currently scratchbuilding a 1956 Continental Mark II. Details and several pictures at the link. http://www.craftsman.../Zimmermann.htm Edited July 20, 2012 by sjordan2
sjordan2 Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) For an equally - if not more - amazing builder check out Louis Chenot's 1:6 1932 Duesenberg at this link: http://www.craftsman....com/Chenot.htm And in this video, he shows that the engine actually works. plasticbutcher Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Lou brought his Duesenberg to one of our club shows, I helped him carry it in and it is a work of art, and very heavy, He has also scratch built a working "Christy" horse drawn fire engine that is just as impressive
Casey Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 The soon-to-be-reissued AMT Sudebaker Avanti is going to be a total letdown after seeing this one.
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 What absolutely, almost unbelievably beautiful work. Wow wow wow.
Chuck Most Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Seeing stuff of this caliber makes me wonder why I even bother! I'll have to show this to my neighbor. He owns a 1:1 '66 Toronado in that same color... and his name is Roger Zimmerman. (Cue Twilight Zone music.)
Plasticfanatic Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 This are one of the most stunning model projects I have ever seen, even his cardboard midel is stunning!!! The superb detail on the Avanti and Toronado is simply spectacular and the interior detail, fit and finish..MAGNIFICENT!!! they look like the real thing, looking at the Toronado leather seat work is a tour of force by it's own. Hope a book is published on this Master Craftman gentleman showing in more detail his works and technique.
sjordan2 Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 You can follow Roger Zimmermann's progress on his 1:12 1956 Continental Mark II at the link below. But be patient - he's been working on this one for 2 years. http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/large-scale-cars/36929-continental-mark-ii.html
