Nova-ss Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I have always had many projects going at the sametime.right now there is 35.I rotate them around as to which one I feel like and if I have parts.some I'm waiting for parts on,other needing to solve a problem before I go any more on progress.I get bored just waiting for paint to dry or glue.it don't both me to have any number I want going.some do take years to get done...its ok,I'm in no hurry to get them done.thats how it works for me.thanks,Chris
91blaze Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I have about 10 WIP's right now but many more on the way. I try to only work on one at a time but I will occasionally do more if I get bored with one.
Dr. Cranky Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I used to feel guilty about have over a dozen or more works unfinished, but I don't anymore. It's the way I build, and that's okay. If I finish something from the WIP lot, I always feel doubly accomplished.
crazyjim Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I'll keep 2 or 3 going at a time and work ion them until they're completed.
Bartster Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I'll keep 2 or 3 going at a time and work ion them until they're completed. .......That's great discipline right there! l get ideas & then mock something up. Put the parts in the appropriate boxes & shelve them. Then l get the pirated box down & wonder where the parts went! l'm trying to stick by my guns & not start anything new til l get a few finished. l think l'm over 20 started now if you count the mock-ups & part switching. Plus some people keep sending me parts that change my plans!! BIG lol!! Please don't stop!! Bart
CorvairJim Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Hard to say. If I'm counting just the ones that are actively or semi-actively being worked on, it would be about half a dozen. If I include the high-concept ones that I got started and realized that they'd be a lot more work than I envisioned at the start, add in another ten-ish. Now if you REALLY want a bigger number, toss in the Corvair glue bombs that I've disasembled and stripped to prep them for (eventual) rebuilding. Hey, they aren't in the condition they were in when I got them, so I guess they qualify as having been started, right? That would be another THIRTY or so, plus a couple of other glue bombs that I've acquired along the way. Let's say 60 and call it good.
crazyjim Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Plus some people keep sending me parts that change my plans!! BIG lol!! Please don't stop!! Bart Any use for the automatic transmission from the '69 Olds 455, Bart? Took the first one out of the mold earlier this afternoon.
Bartster Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Well of course l have use for them.........No B.O.P.s in my stash, but l got so many different kinds a slapsticks, kinda gotta put it in something Groovy!!!! Bart.
sjordan2 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I have put so much into research and materials for each 30s classic that I build that I can't concentrate on more than one at a time while building, though I will have lots of research going on at the same time for other kits.
jcbigpaw Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 (edited) I've currently got about half a dozen in boxes waiting for me to get back to them. One on the desk waiting for final assembly because the paint became a nightmare and I pushed it aside. One in the middle of a rebuild and another glue bomb sitting there waiting its turn. I usually seem to have three going. One is being finished as one is being started and another is about mid way through. Do the two dozen I'm building in my head count? Lol Edited July 26, 2012 by jcbigpaw
MsDano85gt Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 -I've got at least 30 works in progress all various stages of completion ( not including the 2 new projects that -I will be doing jointly with Bartster!) Mite be more than 30 that's the ones planned out in gallon. Ziplocks + havemany more in their. According boxes getting glue here paint there man I love styrene!
jbwelda Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 i like to keep it to a managable number mostly so i can keep consistent in recalling what exactly i was doing on a particular project and probably how i was going to attack whatever problem caused me to put it down for a bit! right now: revell parts pack honda motorcycle (currently on the bench, detail painting underway) surfite (painted, needs smoothing and clear then detail painting of body and final assembly) tognottis king t (currently painting interior while body sits waiting for pre paint attention) oh yeah a 1/8 scale Offy motor that i havent gotten around to in a couple years. please make the sanding stop! i actually pretty much cleared my bench of projects this past winter, so i was pretty satisfied with that.
RodneyBad Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 How Many??? Too many.. I have OCD of not finishing and ADHD of starting.. But I'm having fun and enjoying it, Sooo it really doesn't matter.. BTW: 40+
ssroczyn Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I have 7 or 8 that I consider "Work in Progress". But I always pick one that's going to be the "Finish it" Kit. So I work on that one first and then play around with the others. In fact, I finished one today! Steve
TooOld Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Everybody has a different definition of a "work in progress" , so there is no way to get an accurate answer to the question .
southpier Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Everybody has a different definition of a "work in progress" , so there is no way to get an accurate answer to the question . i dunno .... there's 42 ahead of you that reinforced my situation.
Ramfins59 Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I've got about 6 started projects that wound up back in the box for one reason or another over the past few years. I usually only work on one project at a time until it is finished. I've been on a roll since returning from the NNL East this year. After not working on anything for several months, so far I've completely finished 2 models (a '53 Ford Pickup & a '58 Buick from The Modelhaus). I'm currently working on a '49 Merc convertible from RMCoMD which is about 2 weeks or so away from completion. I'll be posting pictures of everything as soon as I get my old computer set up again. I can't tell you how long it's been since I've been so productive and successful in building models.
dyl_w@comcast.net Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 i like to have at least two that im working on regularly no more than four though. i usauly have as many as five projects stared that im not actively working on.
