TheCat Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Took me a few years to finally find the model kit at a good prize. Here's my first car that I've bought back when I was 19 and my first EVER Manual Shift Stick car. A replica to my first car with all the imperfections. I had a couple other prior to this car, but they were all hand-me-downs. This was my first car that I actually paid money for. Built it to look like the car, down to the semi-gloss paints. The clear coat of that car was no longer glossy. I had some great times and lots of good memories with this car!! I bought this car used (for $800 back in 1988) and on the condition you see it on the model. It was not a perfect car, but to me it was perfect... it was my first car I loved. At that time I never drove a manual car. So, I learned the hard way to drive manual. I drove the car from the Dealers lot to my home (6 city miles). It turned off on me three times. LOL It was Semi-Gold with Semi-Gloss black rocker panels and a Red Stripe It had Limo Dark Tint. Sunroof. Four Speed Manual Transmission. It had metal Louvers on the rear window. I even created the actual lincense plate numbers it had back then. Dirty engine compartment and all. well, here it is.... Enjoy!! Edited August 10, 2012 by TheCat
Foxer Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Wonderful replica. I especially adding the road grime! One of my favorite subjects .. "cars I've owned".
jeffs396 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Very cool EXP Felix! Nicely done, I'll bet it gives you that "warm & fuzzy feeling" everytime you look at it!
cavemanx Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Great built!! Really detailed and love the spall spots of rust and stuff on the under carriage. I'm not usually like this, and forgive me - Reverse lights?
Platerpants Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 this would look great in my forum where people share vehicles they or their family have owned. what is the exp exactly looks mustang based
Scuderia Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 That's pretty awesome and the detail really sets it off. nicely done

tvandmoviecars Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 always liked that era of teh EXP... before it turned into a Escort... I even test drove one, once... but couldnt come to terms on it, with the lot.
1972coronet Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 That's probably the cleanest EXP I've seen in probably 20 years ! That MPC even kitted this oddity is an interesting ode to the 80's ! Been wanting to build one of these myself ... Here's another EXP ; one which I'm reminded of every time I've seen one of these cars :
bsoder Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I really enjoy seeing 1:1 tribs. great job man! B)

TheCat Posted August 14, 2012 Author Posted August 14, 2012 Great built!! Really detailed and love the spall spots of rust and stuff on the under carriage. I'm not usually like this, and forgive me - Reverse lights? Thanks... Yeah, I missed that. The rear lights came in color, so I may have to do something about that.
TheCat Posted August 14, 2012 Author Posted August 14, 2012 Thank you all for the kind comments. This was a kit that I've wanted to build for a long time and it was a great pleasure to finally build it.
