Dr. Cranky Posted August 16, 2012 Author Posted August 16, 2012 Again, thank you everyone. I appreciate the input and support.
CEKPETHO BCE Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Very nice. Though I don't usually like rusty cars, this looks like a nice survivor.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 16, 2012 Author Posted August 16, 2012 LOL, I've started to work on another. I now have a total of six models getting prepped and ready for primer. Who is insane now, Donn? LOL
Kustom Rodder Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Keep the eye candy coming Doc and the vids.
LoneWolf15 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 LOL, I've started to work on another. I now have a total of six models getting prepped and ready for primer. Who is insane now, Donn? LOL Neck and neck , it's a race to the funny farm ! Up for grabs ? The best of the meds that are available ! Lol ! Speaking of which , I need them badly after today ! The main sewer line at Kathie's backed up into the shop this morning . The shop dog got up on the driver's door of the Mustang and scratched it , top to bottom , the a/c unit committed Harikari , and the washer at my house went to the great beyond ! Needless to say ....... No building in the shop today , whatsoever ! So close on the new Willys' builds completion , I just hate when life gets in the way of my modeling ! Lol !
Dr. Cranky Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 Holy smokes, it's been a tough day, but you know what once you get to the bench, you'll feel a lot better.
LoneWolf15 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Holy smokes, it's been a tough day, but you know what once you get to the bench, you'll feel a lot better. Bench time today ? None ! Bench time tomorrow ? Not likely ! Solution ? Multitask ! Build in my head while snaking the drain ! Yep ! That'll work !
Alyn Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 V, you certainly got the Midas touch. Rarely gold, but always high value. Another priceless gem.
charlie8575 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I like this, Virgil. Looks like it's sat in the barn a little too long, without being too far gone. To make clear, this is the nice Revell kit that was issued about 10-12 years ago, or based off of that? I wonder if that wheelhouse issue will be the case in my rep-stock build? If so, anyone have any ideas how to fix it? Charlie Larkin
Dr. Cranky Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 Charlie, yes, this is the same kit, and I hope you don't end up with the same issue. I am building a second one right now to see what is going on with the kit.
Tom Setzer Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Nice Work Virgil, I like everything about it!!
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 That is really nice. I keep coming back and looking at it over and over. Great color and masterful weathering.
Madrdnckbldr080 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Thats Sweet... Really Like the color Combo... Red
Dominik Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Looks good Doc! Like the color and the stance from your Ford. And: not as much rust like always - didnt mean, that i dislike your rusty things. No no! They are always outstanding and give me a lot of ideas.
jamesG Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 not at all what I expected from the original name beautyful work none the less.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 Thanks, everybody. James, I know, that's why I changed the name. All my AZTEC ideas fell through for this one.
Dennis Lacy Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 This is my favorite "weathered" build by you so far. Not only is the weathering realistic and well done, it's the most restrained theme I've seen you do. I usually don't go for the over-the-top theme stuff and watch parts glued all over the body but this is right up my alley. A straight-up "patina'd" hot rod looking like it was locked away for 40 years, discovered, rinsed off and put right back on the road. Love it!
Dr. Cranky Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 Thank you, Dennis. It's a good kit. I am building another one, and I think this one will be a surprise too.
John Goschke Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I love the color and the weathered peeling paint on this as well as the washes on the wheels and engine! But, just because everything else is so nicely done, what happened to the paint or foil on the windshield frame?
Randy D Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Hi Virgil, What in the heck is going on here!!! You running out of rust???? :D Really looks sweet as usual from your bench. Randy
