thr grilles in the doors will be rusty, as will the hinges and knobs. im also gonna add some glas to the doors.... and another shelf so it will hold three builds.

CABINET2003.jpg

im working on the grilles now, i have to find my palm sander to do the wood.......im going to add some sort of background to it as well behind the cars. any suggestions you guys have are very welcome...........lemme know what ya think........and throw any ideas my way please!

ok fellas, this is how far i made it.........

i got the left door grille rusting completed.........

here it is compared to one that isny rusted

cabrust010.jpg

and again installed back in the cabinet....

cabrust008.jpg

i used mostly mig powders, thinned out with mig reducer......i also used some doc obriens, and my special bottle of "real ground up rust" ( thanks to mike napoleon) tomorrow i will get some paint stripper, does anyone know of anything other to use than "strip ease" its a tad expensive, and im workin on a budget here...........any help is welcome......

one last shot of the door, and thats it for tonight, please lemme know what you think guys........

cabrust003.jpg

it still needs some "staining" and "runs" on it here and there so it looks like water has been flowing over it... while the white paint on the wooden part is being stripped i will be starting on that caddy build, im gonna use those caddy hubcaps and wide whites, a 59 caddy engine, again any suggestions you guys can come up with will be greatly appreciated, just keep in mind that im not gonna get into any crazy body work........ LOL

thanks for lookin, i hope you have enjoyed it!

cheers

have a good night everyone, its time for some sleep i am totally shot!

Always a fan of your work Bryan, even these cool side projects. One idea that came to mind was something my friend did with her old bookshelf. She was a big surfing/skateboarding fan so she collected a bunch of magazines, cut out tons of pictures, then took paste glue that dries on clear and glued on photos everywhere like one big collage. It be cool if you did that to the top or sides of this with the rusted and faded look with the photos of your choice, some how make them look aged then throw some sort of sealer on it.

Also the wife and I had an old wooden coffee table that had scratches, instead of throwing it away we had collected a bunch of random stickers, so we started a sticker table. The cool part was our friends would bring over random stickers to add, made a nice personal touch, and with every sticker was a story. Just some ideas. Would look great with just the rust and faded paint look. Like always can't wait to see how it turns out, nice find.

Hey Bryan ! The Caddy looks good so far but you and I know that you will never finish it. : ) The cabinet looks good but if not needed I would not use the trim that goes over the glass. It looks ok it just obstructs the view of your cars. Just one mans opinion.

i also have a couple six packs of beer (cranky ale) for the back seat, and a styrofoam cooler for in the trunk....plus a ton of other stuff.

when i finished lookin for that stuff i got back to the display case, and the doors are being stripped as we speak!

Nice work... Love the Caddy bro!

The case needs some lights on each shelf, some white LEDs in each corner of each shelf should work without taking up much room and you can run them from an old cell phone charger...everyone has one of those laying around, right?

If not, you can usually find one at a thrift shop for a buck.
