I am doing this one for a build off on Scale Avenue , the kit, its Aoshima's newest release of the Aventador, this is a much better kit then the Fujimi verison

The color will be this, and thinking about trying to do the ground effects as well

Here is a pic of the body out of the box, and then a mocked up with some of the body parts, I am not kidding when I say that there are close to 30 parts that make up the bod, two parts trees.

I saw one of these on the street yesterday (Knoxville, TN, of all places!) in a matte/satin black color. It's a bit bigger than I would have thought, and it looks absolutely lethal.

Got a little bit more done, engine is in the engine compartment , rear spring/shock piece in place

And the top part of the engine is complete

Brakes are done, not all the happy with how they turned out, they four different colors on them, I started with aluminum, then gun metal, then burnt metal, and the final color is a different shade of gun metal (tamiya spray), the first three colors were model master metalizer paints . The caliper color is something I mixed up

and now for the mock up shot with it sitting on all four

Thanks guys, I am at a stand still tell the body paint arrives, this is what I am going with for interior colors

I am going to do some clean up on the brakes, strip the wheels while I wait for the paint

To add what Dan said, the kit was just released four weeks ago I think, I know at point, HLJ had to stop taking pre orders, so its safe to say that this kit is in high demand

You could also check here http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/car/ , but I believe the are selling the kit for more the HLJ, check ebay as well

Is this the one that comes with two sets of wheels or is that the fujimi kit?

The Fujimi kit has a set of chrome and a non-chrome set of wheels.

The paint arrived today but I click on the wrong color, so now I have to wait to get the right color, and Scale Finishe's only ships fridays. The funny thing is the color I got was the same color I bought from him in person at the show we had here this year

Small update here, got the dash done, need to clean up a few spots first, and got the wheels painted, I used semi gloss black, I am going to try and highlight the lugnuts

Got the paint today, and started getting the body painted

I did light mist coats to get the body covered, will sand it wilth some 2000 grit, then do a another light coat, then do a wet coat

Be careful with that 2000 grit wet sand Jonathan... First coats look pretty good... I wouldn't wanna burr through those coats... Try 4000 wet... Just to smooth it all out ;-)

Cheers Dan

Thank you for the tip Dan

Can't wait to get mine, looking forward to it! I'd give those ground effects a miss though... They just don't look right.

How about something more subtle like this....

But at the end of the day it's your build so it's your call dude...

Cheers Dan

I think that's the first time I have ever heard the word "subtle" used to describe anything about the Aventador. To quote Mr. Jeremy Clarkson, "It's a daft orange dog, and blue stuff comes out of the exhaust!" NUFF SAID!!
