Since about a month or so ago a came across a post where a member on another board did this one, I haven't been able to just put it away for later. About this same time I stumbed on an 80's issue of a Johan promo of the car and it got the gears turning.

The hood is and will stay molded in place so it'll be a curbside version, but I'm good with that

Got it apart and the interior is now painted in a 2 tone red .

Also , I picked up some chrome reverse wheel and white wall slicks off the 'bay last week. So I have no idea what the wheels are from . Tires I think are parts pack items .

Anyway this is what I started with,,,,,, an 80's issue of a Johan promo in some ugly tan ext with pea green interior

Once I got it apart I sprayed the interior with testors flat red, then went over some areas with a testors plain bottle red to give the illusion of a 2 tone interior. Then with some slight detailing of the inst panel, I'm going to call the int done.

At this point, I just had to do some kind of a mockup to get a feel for the stance.

I'm still undecided on the chassis . The promo just has a flat plate style chassis that has limitations on how to give it a nose up stance like I want. So I may use an old Johan kit chassis that 'I think' is from the 1960 Plymouth wagon .

The lettering is an idea I had and was playing with the computer and some avery clear address labels, so they are just test samples for now, MCW does in fact have the decals for this car, but I'm undecided on if I'll use them or my own .

The trim that runs along the edge of the 1/4 panel is way to thin and will dis-appear under even the lightest of paint / primer coats. So I plan to sand off whats there and make my own with some real thin evergreen sprue.

The main purpose of this is get it done,, quickly. I had thought about opening the hood, but decided against it. This is to be from the start a quickie build .

This is my ultimate goal .

Finding pictures of this car has proven to be a bit tougher than I thought.

And I'm not 100% sure of how the side trim mldgs are supposed to be on this car.

It's going to look great when you are finished ! That is a mighty nice looking promo you found . . . it must have cost a pretty penny !

I have a Modelhaus resin of that car. It's soooooo ugly it's stunning. I love your planned Ramcharger build! Keep it going!

I hafta agree with you as the '61 Dodges & Plymouths were the UGLIEST lokin' Mopars to hit the streets in MHO.

thats cause the mopar engineers put all thier time into makiing them go fast. once they mastered that, they started putting out the 64 and 65 cars and then rest is history!!!

Dang...ya beat me to it. I got a resin repop of this a while back to make molds for another project, and had intended to build exactly what you're doing here. Very nice start. Are you going to open the hood, or leave it curbside?

Bill,

Here is a link to one that caine440 built and postedon here for a few more pictures. Very nice build as well

Rogers buid is the one that gave me the insperation, Only I saw it ,,here,,, http://vintagedragmodelsinc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk223&action=display&thread=2908

Untill then,,,I never knew this car existed, then I stumbed onto the re-issue promo and then a light bulb went off in my head

which brings me to this point.

PS. the hood will stay molded shut and remain a curdside version and thats good enough for my shelf

I think thats why I kept thinking of this build. It was so ugly , it was just to cool to forget about it. And being a Ramchargers team car makes it a must have for me

I've got about $50 in it with postage, and I couldn't buy a resin kit for that

But they are sooo cooool, because they have that "look". I have a pretty nice "brand X" resin piece of one of those. I've cleaned it up, and I plan to build it soon.
