Psychographic Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 I've got the first round of filler done on the doors. It looks pretty good, but sanding these things are a royal PITA. Most of the front suspension pieces are painted and ready for final assembly.
bryan_m Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 I`ll bet its a pain, too many angles to make straight! the frame looks sweet cheers bryan
Bartster Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 l can relate with the sanding problems, Dave! l'm stretching my doors to coupe length & l'm NOT digging on the sanding process! l followed your lead & got a couple Wagon Rods for parts LOVE your suspension work! l think l'm gonna cheat & use the W.R. kit frame & susp~ please keep up the Fantastic work!!!!! Thanks for the tips~Bart.

Thanks for the tips~Bart. It's the corners that suck. I did learn you can get into the corners with a scribing tool. You lay it on the side and it cuts halfway decent, but still a pain.
Psychographic Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Here's a rough idea of the interior colors. The turquoise is darker and the tan is more of a light buckskin than what appears in the pic. I've got flocking that is a dead on match for the turquoise to use for the carpeting. The floor and rear wheel houses need one more coat before the flocking goes down.
Psychographic Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 I realized I screwed up the color scheme with the dash and needed a fix. Flocked the rear half, not real happy with it, I'll touch up some spots after it dries. It should look good with the amps and subs. I guess I should make/find a head unit for it.
Psychographic Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 The frame is just about done, A little more work on the front suspension, brake, gas and air lines should button it up.
bryan_m Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 wow! that IS beautiful David! very nice work man.........hows it goin with the bodywork? cant wait to see it. cheers bryan
Psychographic Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Some mock up shots. The color for the body. It's a base of acrylic with nail polish pearl over it. Once the polish gases out I'll clear it with urethane.
bryan_m Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 oh man! youre killin me with this build! thats a great color, and the bodywork is look great too man......keep it goin! cheers bryan
JasonFL Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Wow! That frame looks great. Real clean and simple, gave me a lot of inspiration to get mine done. Can't wait to see the body all done, keep it up.
Ira Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 GREAT PROGRESS DAVID!!! Love the Engine & Chassis too, Real Nice Work...
ll Brandon ll Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Man, this thing is really coming together! Beautiful!
Foxer Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 That interior just yells to "look at me!". This all looks grand!
Draggon Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 The mock up looks great, love the color youve chosen.
JustBill Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 This is coming along very nice. I love what your doing with this project. Keep up the great work and good luck with the rest of the build!
mrm Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) I like the color too. I love using nail polish on models. Some of them can be tricky to thin tho. How long do you usually wait before you clear them with urethane? Edited November 3, 2012 by mrm

How long do you usually wait before you clear them with urethane? I apply several thin coats giving each ample flash time, so the solvents evaporate out fast. It usually only takes about 2-4 hours, overnight to be safe. Edited November 3, 2012 by Psychographic
Psychographic Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 The floorpan is cleared, if it looks blue, it's the idiot behind the camera. I can't get the proper color without editing the pic. I started running brake and airlines. I had the rear done, but it was done out of the frame and didn't clear things properly. I almost gave up on doing it in the car from lack of patience, but I got it. I still need to paint the brake line coupler and the airline manifold/solenoids.
JasonFL Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I'll either scratch build them or steal them from the 39 Wagon Rod. They came out great. If you scratch built them I would love to see photos on how ya did it or what you used. I wasn't aware that the 39 wagon came with them. It's coming together nicely, can't wait to see it done
