VW Dave Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Great work! I've started a very similar color combo on my '50 Olds too; for the roof, I'm using a non-metallic color from Testors' lacquer line: Phonecian yellow(pretty sure it's a Ford color).
ToyLvr Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Nice one! When you mentioned "Root Beer" for the color, that caught my eye. I have a car body that I painted with the Testors "Root Beer" lacquer. For the contrasting color, I chose Model Master #2909 "Light Ivory"..... Just a thought.....
mind-9 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Nice project this one, Love the suspension and the interior is a piece of art . O and for the carb i will check out my stash will let you know. Gr Dirk
Gluhead Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 'Preciate it. I had to strip the first run at the color due to dirt I missed in the paint cup. Re-cleaned everything but that, so wouldn't ya know it. That in itself was no big deal...an hour or so with the high test alky on a cloth and it was ready to go...but I apparently missed one little sliver while masking the body off, and some alky wicked down through the mask onto the trunk. . Dunkittydunk a day in the junk.
Gluhead Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Thanks. Bill. Got the body all cleaned up and re-shot in primer, and sprayed the roof. I'm gonna let this set up a while before I do the bottom again.
LacrosseBoss Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 a shame about the paint job. Can't wait to see the two of them together. This is a great teaser.
Gluhead Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Thanks, Matthew. This is a car I've had in my head for a long, long time...it'll get there but the anticipation is getting to me. lol
Gluhead Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 No justice done by this pic. The blonde looks fantastic with the brown to the naked eye. I couldn't be more pleased with the combo between them and how the interior colors play off everything. No clear or buffing yet...gonna let it sit a week or so before I touch it.
rmvw guy Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Awesome thread you've got going here on this one. Glad to see you back in business. I love everything about it so far.
Modlbldr Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 That is just a beautiful color combo. Nice paint work you've done. I can't wait to see this one wrapped up. Later-
charlie8575 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Looks better than I had imagined it would, and in my mind's eye, I was seeing a pretty car. Well done, Chris. I'm glad to see your recovery is not interfering with your building one bit. Charlie Larkin
