Tumbe Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 My friend has a Ford Anglia. About a year ago he had his 50th anniversary so I decided to built a model of his very own car. I started with Air-Trax resin kit. Because my friend has a Anglia standard, I shaved all chrome trim from sidepanels and created a new grill from Evergreen plastic. I painted the body with airbrush and used Humbrol enamel paint which I polished and waxed. Interior is also painted with Humbrol colours. Wheels and tires I painted with Tamiya spray colours. Hubcaps and bumpers I painted with Alclad2. Anglia ready for road! My modelling buddy helped with register plates, national sign (SF=Suomi-Finland) and a decal for front emblem. My friend has on his Anglia's rear window a sticker which says "A brand new Ford Anglia 1964". So I made a sign with same words (in Finnish).
MichaelJ Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 That is a really nice car. Clean build and great color... Michaelj...
peekay Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Very nicely done! Great work on the grille transformation. My wife had one just like it in New Zealand.
beeRS Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Lovely model Tuomas. I have been wanting to build one of these for a little while now. Are the first two pictures the original resin finish or did you do some work on it by that stage?
Tumbe Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 Thanks everybody Sonny, the body is painted with Tamiya white primer in first two pictures.
surfjunke Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Beautiful build of a very cool & unique car. Like the new grill. Fine paint & foil work.
GeeBee Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Superb build, I really must try one of these Airtrax kits ....
Johan020 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Great car I think your friend is gonna get his best gift from you
realgone58 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 That came out beautiful!!! Always thought these little cars were neat. There is one sitting in a local vintage car salvage yard here in Florida. Don't see too many of them in the states.
ChrisR Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 That is cool. My dad had a brand new '61. Looks like I have to get myself this kit.
mademan Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 do you have a link to where I can get one of these? need badly, lol
ChevyCoupe41 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Looks very good! Paint job and details looks very nice. Anglia could be very good starting point to do pro street, hmmm...
Badluck 13 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Nice lil' Anglia, not something you see a lot of,nice color choice and your Alclad II looks awesome.
Foxer Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I love it! So nice to see one of these built up and a very nice build it is!
Erik Smith Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Really nice. Cool and unusual model - I appreciate the post.
Austin T Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Great job,has that nice simplistic car vibe to it,It's nice to see something that isn't painted a HOK color (I do like HOK,I just have a broad horizon).Looks great.
Johnag4004 Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 That is so sweet, brings back some memories too, I learn't to drive in one...
MrObsessive Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) I love oddball subjects like this! Nice build!! Once in a blue moon, I saw these when I was a kid here in the states. I had no idea what they were until years later, and was surprised that it was a Ford. Of British descent of course! I have one of Airtrax's Volvo P1800 kits------very nicely done with just a little cleanup that will be needed. They're a bit pricey due to our Dollar vs. the Euro, but well worth it for subject matter you just can't get anywhere else! Edited October 13, 2012 by MrObsessive
Rob Hall Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Sharp build...I love offbeat replica stock builds like this.
