cobraman Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 (edited) My next build will be the hotrod in the double T kit. I have some parts primed and have drilled out the rear deck for some tail light I want to use. I also cut a hole in the roof so to be a bit different and to offer a view into the interior. Not sure of the whole finished look I am going for but will just keep working on it and see what happens. Edited October 25, 2012 by cobraman
Darren B Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I have had this kit for a while and this may give me inspiration into building it. thing is when i sit the body next to other cars in the same scale it looks more like 1/32 scale to me but cant wait to see what you come up with. Following this topic for sure, great start.
cobraman Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 OK Mark, no rat rod. And yes this body does seem to be undersized for a 1/25 scale.
cobraman Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 Moving right along I was able to get more done today. Body painted and decaled but not yet cleared. Some other parts painted and some in primer. I am planning on using the white walls but not sure I like the look with the rears being narrow and the fronts wider. Does this bother anyone else who may be reading this ? Should I perhaps run black walls up front ?
Pat Minarick Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 I would say black walls up front or try matching the rears better since it not going to be a Rat Rod
MachinistMark Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 The whitewall mid match looks fine to me.
walt francis Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Looks good to me I really like the seat treatment ..where did you get those decals....Great idea.
cobraman Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 Thanks Walt. You can get the decals from Flaming Graphics or now called Flaming Colors I think. They have a wide selection of decals that are meant to be used on Hotwheels cars. If you order any you have to coat them before you use them.
slusher Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Very cool project and l think the tires will look great you have laid out...
crazyrichard Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 awsome !! this is the exact kit i want to buy still looking for it just saw a finished build of this kit on a dutch forum , that guy ratted it i like where you are going with this !!! will watch the progress for sure
cobraman Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 Thanks guys. As an old geezer I really enjoy building these re-releases that I built when they were new. Hopefully they are at least a little better now then the last time I built them.
cobraman Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 Was able to manage to get more done on this build. Nothing totally done yet but made progress on the tires and wheels, the interior has been flocked, the body has been cleared. Still lots to do.
cobraman Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 Funny, I just noticed when I was listing the photos that I painted the radiator shell the frame color and it should be body color. I'm an idiot ! May or may not change it.
vwrabbit Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Keep the radiator the frame color. Nice contrast! Tim
cobraman Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 Thanks guys. And ok Tim I will leave the shell the frame color. And not just because it is eaisier for me. : )
Del Austin Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Nice looking T. I built one box stock when they were first re-released and am itching to build another one.
