IHSS Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 So this is my first time trying a chop. I got back into the hobby about a year ago and never would have tried this if it wasn't for some of the great builders on this site. Thanks for the insperation everyone. Ok enough babble. this is what I started with. And after a couple of hours of cutting and a quick coat of primer this is what I ended up with. I need to sand it get some putty on it and then decide what to do with it next. And any pointers mistakes or opinions, good and bad, are welcome. Thanks for looking Jeff
JustBill Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 I'm no expert but it looks like a solid job to me so far. The biggest thing now is gona be to just take your time and work the plastic to smooth everything out and make it flow. Good job so far and best of luck!!!
cobraman Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Looks like you did a very good job on the chop. To me , they are not too easy on some cars.
IHSS Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 Thanks guys. I've been filing away at it this morning. Just put another coat of primer on it, so I can see what needs putty and more attention. I'll thow up a couple of pics when the primer dries. I noticed that my pics are in the wrong order, not sure how that happened . But the second pic and the last pic should be swapped, I guess thats kinda obvious though. Anyway thanks again. Jeff
crazyrichard Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 nice job .. looks like the top chop worked great , sometimes it can become a whole operation (like my current build) in some cases you have to chop up the body drasticly and shorten or lenghten stuff like doors / roof nice job so far !!
Pat Minarick Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Looks very good! That is a hard car to chop ,I sunk the hole top into the body and made a flat hood for mine.
IHSS Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Got some paint on it. Its not looking to bad Heres some outside pics. the color looks a little better in the sun light. Thanks for looking
Space Cowboy Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Jeff you did a great job for your first chop. The paint looks smooth and shiny....................
IHSS Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) Thanks guys. I got it BMF'd today, I still need some practice with that. I got it mocked up to check the stance. I think the front still needs to come down a little. Thanks again Jeff Edited October 27, 2012 by IHSS
