IMSANUT Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Here is a pic of a SCCA production racer Sunbeam Alpine I built years ago from the original AMT Get Smart kit with the air dam and fender flares from the Tiger re-issue. Mostly a kit bash with photo etch hood pins being the only after market item. The next item is a complete "what if" phantom IMSA GTU car based on the thought that AAR should have raced the Toyota MR2. It is another heavily kit bashed model using the Fujimi MR 2 and Revell Mustang GTO kits as the primary sources.
IMSANUT Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 This was my first attempt at a number of things, weathering, full detail and major kit bashing. I like it a lot, but think I should have lowered the ride height a bit.
surfjunke Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Great work, Jim. I love your phantoms, really cool. They certainly are fun to build.
IMSANUT Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 Yeah, they are fun. I have always liked the what if idea. Thanks!
Scuderia Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Thats stellar build and imagination going. Awesome
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Like your mister two, and the Alpine. Nice work.
IMSANUT Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 Like your mister two, and the Alpine. Nice work. Thanks! The MR2 was a tough build I more than once wanted to throw at the wall...! The Alpine should have probably been built as the Tiger, but I had the original Alpine and decided to use the 4 cylinder instead of the 260.
