IMSANUT Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Built this as a gift for my father in law a few years back. Enjoy.
Bartster Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 So cool! True, not many in stock form. Looks mighty fine to me. l tried this kit without much luck in the early '70s. l might be working out a trade after seeing this one. Super nice looking woody. Bart.
IMSANUT Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 Thanks guys! It was a trying build, mostly the hinges. I did have to strip the heavy Revell chrome and have it all redone by Chrometech USA. My father in law was most pleased with the gift.
IMSANUT Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 Thanks for the kind words! Believe it or not, EVERYTHING that was painted, was brush painted. The black was from the the short lived Revell / Monogram line of water based paint.
Gramps2u Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Nice! have that kit on the shelf. Always wondered how much trouble the hinges were. Again very nice!
IMSANUT Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 Nice! have that kit on the shelf. Always wondered how much trouble the hinges were. Again very nice! The hinges are VERY fragile. I'd consider replacing the pins with drilled holes and a small diameter (straight pin) wire instead. It is a fiddly kit, but very cool once completed. Oddly, one of my favorite bits of the kit are how real the tires look.....I did no one thing to make them look as they do.
mrm Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Looks really cool. I have one on the bench, but definitely not stock
