Geno Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 (edited) Here's a few more shots. Still gotta put a couple more coats on the interior then hit the seats with some semi-gloss to tone down the shine and hopefully make it look more like leather. Next on the to do list is get the engine built. Any suggestions would be great. I'm hoping to learn from you all. Edited November 29, 2012 by Geno
Bartster Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Are you using the kit motor ? This thing is screaming for a big block !
Geno Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 Bart, I'm actually using the 454 from the '70 Chevelle parts car. I had thought the same thing, lol. It definitely needs a big block.

Geno Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 Thanks all for the kind words. I wish I had half the talent as you all do.
Draggon Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Nice, looks so much better with that grille! How did those Firebird designs decals work out?
Geno Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 (edited) Thanks Glenn, I really like the decals, they're really nice. Edited November 30, 2012 by Geno
Geno Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 Just to give ya an idea of what it'll look like with the wheels. Should I leave them chrome or paint the spokes to match the grill and headlight surrounds. Thanks, I appreciate the input. Geno.
Geno Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Finally got the dash finished other than a final polishing. I printed out my own white gauge cluster and used .005 sheet styrene as the gauge glass, I also installed an ignition using one of the photo-etched door locks from Model Car Garage fitted with a key on an official Chevy keyring, lol. geemoney Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 i would like to build one to look exactly like the original box art. would probably involve a top chop too! nice work!
Geno Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 Thanks Mike. I'd built Quicksilver years ago and hated that I'd ever gotten ride of it. And since it's such a hard kit to find now, this is kinda living my youth again building this one.
tubbs Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Thanks all for the kind words. I wish I had half the talent as you all do. you do!! there are people saying the same thing about your build right now. doesn't matter whether you turn a complete motor out of aluminum or just starting out. it looks great!! we are our worst critics!!!
Geno Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 (edited) Got the wheels and tires finished up last night. Edited December 8, 2012 by Geno
