dimebolt Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) My newest project is gonna be Lime Ice Testors one shot lacquer, so it's gonna be called the Snot Rod. All the shaded areas are getting removed. It's gonna have a big Mopar Hemi, crossrammed with 4 weber carbs. It'll be my first chop top, and my first hinged set of doors, so it's gonna be interesting. Thanks for looking. Corey Edited December 22, 2012 by dimebolt
Dr. Cranky Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Looking forward to seeing more of this one.
dimebolt Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks Doc, and Fredo. This one is pretty far outta my comfort zone, so it should be a fun change of pace. More to come. Corey
Der Bugmeister Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Off to a great start, I like the mods. I'm building the same kit right now, but as a more traditional rod. Are you using the hinges as supplied, or building slicker ones?
dimebolt Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) Thanks man. I'm probably gonna smooth the kit hinges out, and do it suicide with scratch hinges since these are so fragile. Corey Edited November 18, 2012 by dimebolt
Pat Minarick Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks man. I'm probably gonna smooth the kit hinges out, and do it suicide with scratch hinges since these are so fragile. Corey Hey Corey. Great start ,Just an idea .How about gull wing doors?
dimebolt Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Sorry, didn't think about putting it in here guys. Thanks Pat. Ya know, that would be really killer lookin, and different for an old rod. I might have to try that. Thanks for the idea man. I got everything cut up, and glued back together. Next I'll remove the kit's hinges, and smooth everything out for primer. Thanks for looking. Corey
Pat Minarick Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Not a problem , always wanted to try that out on one. No telling when Iwould get around to it !
dimebolt Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks Richard. This is the first pre 64 car other than my SWC Willys, that I've built since I was 10 or 11. I tried to build 2 different ones. A 32 and a 33 Ford. Both turned out horrible, and promptly got trashed. So this is pretty much uncharted water for me. I've got some pretty solid ideas for it though. I'm gonna scratchbuild the intake, and try to get as close as I can to this kind of design here. I think it will be cool. Corey
crazyrichard Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 hmm yes that def. a great idea COOL TO FOLLOW i'm actually the other way r......... i'm doing my best modeling with cars like this , the old models .. tried a modern car a while back (a older japanese NISSAN LAUREL) .. super simple building if you ask me , only a few parts and not as much room for customising as the old timers ... but i just lost interest and found it boring
vintagedragfan Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 snuck one in on me Corey!, this will be very cool bro!
crazyjim Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I'm building that pickup but the plastic is blue. I like the mods you're doing to yours.
dimebolt Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks guys. You're probably gonna think I'm crazy, but the creative juices were flowing last night; so I just went with the flow. Here's what I have so far. Still have alot of smoothing out to do, but the drivers side is pretty much roughed in. Thanks for looking. Corey
crazyjim Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I like what you're doing to the fenders, Corey.
dimebolt Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks Jim. I appreciate it man. I wasn't exactly sure how this one would be received. Alot of work, but I think it'll be unique when it's done. Corey
crazyrichard Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 daring .. and well if at one point you think it doesnt look good you can always go fenderless it pretty unique thats for sure
Custom Mike Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Corey, it will defintely be a one-of-a-kind model, I like the way you're thinking! Now you've gotta go with some kind of killer pearl or candy color!
dimebolt Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks Mike. Got the other side cut. Now time to smooth it all out. More to come. Thanks for looking. Corey
Jantrix Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I really love what you are doing. Keep it going.
dimebolt Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks Rob. I will for sure man. Corey
