The 1969 Chevelle and the accelerator were from Hobby Lobby this week. The DOH was from my awesome wife who bought it at a garage sale for a dollar. 20140427_224639.jpg

Over the Easter weekend we went to Green Bay Wisconsin. I went to a real hobby shop that was what I imagined a 1960's hobby shop to be, N.E.W. Hobby. It was really a very well stocked hobby shop with everything that I could think of. There were old kits, new kits, supplies that I haven't seen outside of eBay. It was very cool to see such a great hobby shop. I just wish it was in my town, instead of 5 hours away. I didn't get nearly as much as I wanted to, but my son bought some army figures that he is trying to build. That is better than anything I could buy, since he is getting into modeling at the age of 6.

On Saturday I went out to the Northern Virginia Modelers Model Classic 2014. It was mostly tanks and planes, but I found a few things at very reasonable prices.

Got this nice open, but complete 3 in 1 '34 Ford pickup kit for $5. Lots of extra stuff in this kit and a couple different engine, which is nice. Lindberg kits look to be nice quality, but I have not put one together yet.

Got this sealed AMT Boyd Coddington American Hot Rod 55 Chevy kit for $5. I'm a little iffy on the rubber band like, low profile tires and huge rims, but I can always replace them.

Got an open but complete AMT 57 Ford for $6. I already have one, but it's just such a nice kit with the opening doors, I had to grab another one at that price.

I love 80's era Pontiacs and picked up this kit, which I'd never seen before, for $5. It's an 88 or 89 Pontiac Gran Prix Turbo. Not sure why it's considered limited edition, but I couldn't pass it up.

For $2 I got this open but unbuilt Skip's Fiesta Drive-In series '59 Ford Galaxie. Yes, this is the one with the retractable roof and horrible four piece body. I originally got this for Christmas back in 1987 or 1988 and it never got completed because it was just too fussy and difficult. The reason it was $2 was that it's missing one piece, the deck lid, that covers the retractable roof. So I'm thinking with some time and Evergreen sheet, I may make a pickup out of it.

Lastly, I got some great 2 for $1 parts baggies including some tires, steelies, and hubcaps.

I spent most of the morning there and for less than $35 had something to eat and had a decent haul to take home.

The model kit itself isn't limited edition, but the CAR itself was, there were only 2,000 Grand Prixs given the special 205HP Turbo treatment by ASC & McLaren in 1989.

Well that solves it! I'd trade ten of these for one '89 Pontiac Sunbird kit. Doubt they ever made them, though. Thanks!

I got this '62 in the mail on the 17th for $40 plus $10 shipping. Last night, I scored another '62 for $31.65 plus $4.12 shipping! No photos of it yet. It makes the third '60s Ford I've scored for less than $50 in the past four months. I've been after just one for over seven years and have fell over three in the past four months! I also just finished restoring a '61 F-100 last month.

It's a salesman award promo. Hence the gold plating. Some say it's rare. Some say it isn't. Doesn't matter to me. It's going to get modified heavily.

I did not even see you pick up the fire chief car. When did you sneak that one into the trunk? lol

LOL first time I got the keys from you! apparently I was all over the 454SS trucks and the '70 Impala's!

I gotta blame you for a least 2 or 3 of them though

Yeah it was in a package deal i got for 25.00 shipped. I bought the package because the guy was getting out of the hobby and had 5 or 6 packs of unopened photoetched stuff and another 6 packs of unopened flocking (Ken kustom Fuzzi fur) and several Resin speakers. I only had 25.00 so i offered that (he was asking 35.00) and promised i would build it and send him pictures of it. I didnt really think much of it till i saw it in person and the memories of high school riding in these cars came flooding back. lol

I have that Chevette! Glad I did not pass on it when I found it!! And the extra goodies in the kits back then where a real treat to find. Wish the model companies still did that.
